Domestic laundry-washing appliance or dishwasher and optical sensor therefor
11249012 · 2022-02-15 · ·

A domestic laundry-washing appliance including an optical measuring device for obtaining measured values which are representative of a spectral transmission signature of a washing liquid used during operation of the laundry-washing appliance for cleaning textiles, and a control device which is adapted to categorise a cleaning agent contained in the washing liquid in respect of its chemical properties on the basis of the spectral transmission signature obtained, and to control the operation of the laundry-washing appliance in dependence on the categorisation result. The categorisation result can indicate, for example, a distinction between a heavy-duty detergent containing bleach and another bleach-free detergent.

Laundry washing machine comprising a water softening device

A laundry washing machine having an outer casing, a washing tub, a rotatable drum, a detergent dispenser, a fresh-water supply circuit, an internal water softening device filled with a water softening agent capable of reducing the hardness degree of the fresh water directed towards the detergent dispenser or the washing tub, a regeneration-agent reservoir located/recessed inside the outer casing and structured for being manually fillable with consumable salt or other regeneration agent, a first water-supply line for channeling fresh water into said regeneration-agent reservoir so as to form brine, a brine reservoir fluidically connected to said regeneration-agent reservoir for receiving and accumulating the brine arriving from said regeneration-agent reservoir, and a detector assembly for detecting when the salinity degree of the brine stored into brine reservoir exceeds a predetermined minimum salinity value.

Additive dispenser for varying the types of additives within a washing machine appliance

A washing machine appliance as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a tub, a fluid additive dispenser, and a controller. The tub may be disposed within the cabinet. The fluid additive dispenser may include a housing, a dispenser drawer, a water supply conduit, a conduit water valve, and an optical sensor. The optical sensor may be mounted to a housing and directed at a pod compartment. The controller may be operably coupled to the fluid additive dispenser and may be configured to initiate a washing operation. The washing operation may include receiving an image signal from the optical sensor, determining a pod characteristic within the pod compartment based on the received image signal, and directing water to the pod compartment based on the determined pod characteristic.

A METHOD FOR WASHING LAUNDRY IN A LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINE AND LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINE IMPLEMENTING THE METHOD

A method for washing laundry in a laundry washing machine comprising a washing tub external to a washing drum and an electrical conductivity detecting device. The method comprises the steps of comparing a first measured conductivity with a first threshold and comparing a second measured conductivity with a second threshold for performing one or more actions based on the result of said first comparison step and/or said second comparison step. The value of said second threshold is lower than the value of said first threshold.

System and technique for extracting particulate-containing liquid samples without filtration

A filtration-free liquid sampling system may be used to extract particulate or debris-containing liquid samples that may otherwise plug a filter over its service life. For example, such a system may be used to extract liquid sample from an industrial textile washer to monitor and/or validate the quality of wash conditions within the washer. In some examples, the system includes a pump that creates a vacuum on a backstroke, drawing liquid into a sensor housing positioned between the pump and the washer. After holding the liquid in the sensor housing long enough to measure its properties, the pump can be driven in a reverse stroke to pressurize the contents in the sensor housing and force the liquid back into the washer. This vacuum fill/pressure purge can keep the sensor housing free of debris.

A METHOD FOR WASHING LAUNDRY IN A LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINE AND LAUNDRY WASHING MACHINE IMPLEMENTING THE METHOD

A method for washing laundry in a laundry washing machine comprising a washing tub external to a washing drum and a turbidity detecting device. The method comprises determining the soil level of the laundry by means of measurement of turbidity through the turbidity detecting device and performing at least one soil removal phase if the soil level is high.
