A laundry treating apparatus includes a main body and a washing tub. The main body and the washing tub are coupled to each other through a suspension assembly. The suspension assembly includes a support rod, an elastic member, and a damper. The support rod is formed in a rod shape, and one end of the support rod is coupled to the main body. The elastic member is arranged about the support rod to surround the support rod. The damper is supported on the elastic member, and is configured to move along the longitudinal direction of the support rod. In addition, the damper is coupled to an outer circumference of the support rod, and forms a compartment, which is an empty space surrounding the support rod. The compartment is provided with a friction member.

The clothing treatment apparatus of the present disclosure includes: a tub; a drum extending in a cylindrical shape, capable of being opened upward, and rotatably disposed in the tub; a balancer fixed to an upper portion the drum, extending along a circumference of the drum, and providing a channel communicating with an inner space of the drum; and a chamber formed inside the balancer and extending along the balancer. The chamber includes a first chamber forming a lower portion of the chamber, and a second chamber forming an upper portion of the chamber. A width of the first chamber is greater than a width of the second chamber.
Suspension damper with fluid contaminant protection
A suspension damper for washing machines includes a control rod that is configured to attach a fixed bracket of a washing machine cabinet and a first cap having an aperture through which the control rod slidingly extends. The first cap is configured to engage a concave portion of a bracket on a drum of the washing machine. A second cap is disposed on the control rod, and a spring is disposed between the first cap and the second cap. The first cap includes at least one water passageway for guiding water along an outer surface of the first cap. An umbrella may be disposed on the control rod to shed water outwardly away from the control rod.

A suspension damper for washing machines includes a control rod that is configured to attach a fixed bracket of a washing machine cabinet and a first cap having an aperture through which the control rod slidingly extends. The first cap is configured to engage a concave portion of a bracket on a drum of the washing machine. The first cap includes at least one water passageway for guiding water along an outer surface of the first cap.
