DEVICE, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR PREVENTION OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
20220160575 · 2022-05-26 ·

Embodiments provide devices, systems and methods for preventing deep vein (DV) thrombosis (DVT). One embodiment provides a DVT prevention device including a cuff that fits over a patient's knee, an applanator coupled to an inside cuff surface, an expandable member (EM) coupled to the applanator, a pressure source fluidically coupled to the EM and a controller for controlling EM inflation. When the EM is inflated, it applies a force to the applanator which is transmitted to the knee back surface causing a popliteal vein (PV) under the cuff to be compressed so as to increase backpressure behind the compressed PV and subsequently increase the velocity of blood flow in the leg DV's when the EM is deflated. The EM can be inflated in a cycle including pulsed inflation, inflation hold and relaxation. The cycles can be repeated and adjusted to achieve a desired increase of blood flow/velocity in leg DV's.

RECONFIGURABLE WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM FOR A WALK-IN TUB BATHING INSTALLATION WITH A SINGLE PUMP FOR MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS

A reconfigurable water distribution system for a walk-in tub bathing installation including two or more types of discharge ports for discharging water. The system includes a single motorized pump having an input connected to a suction port of the bathing installation, and an output port delivering pressurized water. A pipe system selectively connects the pump to the two or more types of discharge ports to selectively direct the pressurized water to the different ones of the types of discharge ports. The system selectively enables the bathing installation to perform a plurality of different functions using a single pump.

HOT TUB WITH VARIED WATER LEVELS

Hot tubs are disclosed herein that include a rigid outer shell having at least two seats formed therein and a footbed below the at least two seats. The at least two seats are either positioned equidistantly from the footbed or at unequal distances from the footbed. The hot tub includes at least two pumps and each pump is configured to pump water to a single seat. The hot tub has an equal number of seats and pumps as well as a skimmer positioned on a sidewall of the rigid shell. The skimmer extends at least one foot in a vertical direction and is configured to supply water to the pumps when a water level in the hot tub is as low as sixteen (16) inches from the footbed and when the water level in the hot tub is at least thirty (30) inches from the footbed.

COMBINATION EMERGENCY WASH AND FAUCET UNIT

A combination emergency wash and faucet unit includes a base, an emergency wash arm coupled to the base, and a spout coupled to the base. The emergency wash arm includes an emergency wash unit. The emergency wash arm is repositionable relative to the base. The spout is repositionable relative to the base and the emergency wash arm. The spout is configured to move away from the emergency wash arm in response to a movement of the emergency wash arm.

SOFT ROBOTIC TECHNOLOGIES, ARTIFICIAL MUSCLES, GRIPPERS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

An elongated actuator including: an elongated inner tube for carrying a pressurized actuation fluid; a helical coil wrapped around the elongated inner tube; wherein the actuator undergoes actuation by means of pressure fluctuations in the elongated inner tube.

A back-therapy apparatus for vertebral massage comprises at least one first manipulating element (743) comprising a first engagement member (744) and at least one second manipulating element (743) comprising a second engagement member (744). The first and second engagement members (744) are arranged such that, in use, they are each situated on opposite sides of a patient's vertebral column. The first engagement member (744) is operable to contact and manipulate vertebral area between the spinous and transverse processes from one side of the vertebral column and the second engagement member (744) is operable to contact and manipulate the vertebral area between the spinous and transverse processes from the opposite side of the vertebral column. The first and second manipulating elements (743) are operable independently of each other to move the first and second engagement members (744) respectively into and out of contact with the vertebral area between the spinous and transverse processes thereby manipulating rotational movement of the vertebral column.

MOTION ASSISTANCE APPARATUS

A motion assistance apparatus includes a first link, a second link coupled to the first link via a rotary shaft so as to rotate, a duct fixed to the first link, an electromagnet disposed so as to cover at least part of the duct, a first movable portion connected to a first end of the duct, a second movable portion connected to a second end of the duct, magnetic fluid filled in a hermetically sealed space defined by the duct, the first movable portion, and the second movable portion, a transmitting portion configured to convert relative rotation between the first link and the second link to a relative position change between the first movable portion and the second movable portion, and a control unit configured to control the electromagnet.
