DEVICE, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR PREVENTION OF DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS
Embodiments provide devices, systems and methods for preventing deep vein (DV) thrombosis (DVT). One embodiment provides a DVT prevention device comprising a cuff that fits over a patient's leg, an applanator coupled to an inside cuff surface, an expandable member (EM) coupled to the applanator, a pressure source fluidically coupled to the EM and a controller for controlling inflation of the EM. When the EM is expanded, it applies a force to the applanator which is transmitted by the applanator as a force to the leg surface which causes a DV under the cuff to be compressed so as to minimize blood flow through the DV. The EM is then deflated, stopping DV compression and blood flow resumes. The EM can be inflated in a cycle including pulsed inflation, inflation hold and relaxation. The cycles can be repeated and adjusted to achieve a desired increase of flow/velocity in the DV.
EXERCISE DEVICE
A multipurpose exercise device having a base that rests on a support surface and a user platform upon which the user stands. The lower end of a perpendicular support post is mounted to the base to axially pivot thereon and the upper end of the post is pivotally mounted to the lower surface of the user platform. The user platform pivots with the support post in a horizontal plane parallel to the support surface and pivots on the support post in a vertical plane perpendicular to the horizontal support surface. Resistance elements are provided having one end mounted to the support post and the other end mounted to the base to control the velocity and angle of pivot of the user platform in the horizontal plane. Preferably, a plurality of resistance elements are provided having one end mounted to the base and the other end mounted to the user platform to control the velocity and angle of pivot of the user platform in the vertical plane. In use, the user stands on the user platform and performs exercise motions to propel the user platform to pivot in the horizontal plane and the vertical plane.

Active comfort controlled bedding systems include a variable firmness control and/or variable climate control. The active comfort controlled bedding systems generally include a plurality of air bladders, each one of the plurality of air bladders includes a pressure sensor configured to measure pressure within a respective air bladder. A control unit configured to selectively operate a pump and valves to sequentially adjust a pressure in two or more of the plurality of air bladders having an applied load of an end user thereon to provide a repeating pattern within the two or more plurality of air bladders, wherein the repeating pattern is defined by a pressure increase and subsequent decrease in a selected one of the plurality of air bladders followed a pressure increase and subsequent decrease in a selected other one of the plurality of air bladders to provide a massaging action.
SELF-LUBRICATING MASSAGER
The invention discloses a self-lubricating massager. The self-lubricating massager comprises a massager body, and two ends of the massager body are designated as a massage section and a handheld section respectively; a vibrating motor is installed inside the massage section, an end face of the massager body is provided with a liquid outlet, and a mounting frame is arranged inside the handheld section; one end of the mounting frame is provided with a operational chamber, a pressing head is installed in the operational chamber, a side of the pressing head is provided with a limiting edge, and a spring is arranged between the limiting edge and the operational chamber.
Wearable soft exoskeleton apparatus
A wearable soft exoskeleton apparatus includes: a fluid supplying portion; and a soft exoskeleton portion which is connected to the fluid supplying portion and is configured to be able to be worn in legs of a user, a soft exoskeleton portion being made of elastic material to simulate motions of the legs and being provided with a fiber conduit through which fluid flows, the soft exoskeleton portion being inflated to support the legs of the user when the fluid is supplied to the fiber conduit from the fluid supplying portion. The soft exoskeleton portion includes: a fiber tube which is formed in a mesh type to be able to enclose a femoral region and a shinbone; and a fiber structure which is disposed within the fiber tube in a structure in which cells of a predetermined shape are connected to one another so as to form a plurality of the fiber conduits therein.
Microfluidic valves and channels and minifluidic valves and channels enabled soft robotic device, apparel, and method
A device for use with soft robotic devices comprises soft fluidic actuators, a microfluidic/minifluidic valves and channels module, a fluidic module, sensors, and a control module. The actuators are operable to apply predetermined effects to surfaces and/or objects. The microfluidic/minifluidic valves and channels module has micro/mini fluidic channels and on-chip fluidic pressure-controlled pinch valves forming a fluidic network. Each pinch valve has a valve pinch chamber, a membrane layer, and a valve control pressure chamber. The control module receives signals from the sensors and controls the fluidic module to control the pinch valves to induce flow of fluid under pressure to the actuators. An active compression apparel may include the device, and may have a skin contact backing layer and a strain-limiting backing layer sandwiching the actuators which are operable to provide compression to the skin and/or limb of a user through the at least one backing layer.
