The dryer appliance may include a second controller in operable communication with the first controller to receive one or more data signals therefrom. The second controller may be configured to initiate a drying operation. The first controller or the second controller may be configured to determine a combined load condition based on the wash control information of the plurality of discrete washing operation occurrences of the washing machine appliance. The second controller may be configured to adjust the drying operation according to the combined load condition.

A laundry washing machine includes a weight sensing system including a weight sensor positioned to sense at least a portion of a weight associated with a wash tub and configured to output an associated pulse width modulated (PWM) force signal having a duty cycle that varies with applied force on the weight sensor. A controller of the laundry washing machine includes a state change sensing logic circuit coupled to receive the PWM force signal from the weight sensor and execute an interrupt service routine triggered by each state transition to capture a timestamp associated with each state transition such that the duty cycle of the PWM force signal may be determined using the captured timestamps.

A washing machine and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. The amount of laundry that is introduced into the washing machine is measured using gravity and inertia applied during the operation of the motor, whereby it is possible to precisely calculate the amount of laundry and to minimize the effects of the initial position of the laundry and the movement of the laundry. In addition, the current value of the motor that is operated is used to measure the amount of laundry without a sensor. Furthermore, the amount of laundry is measured at the rotational speed of the motor at which the laundry clings to the drum, whereby it is possible to minimize an error due to the movement of the laundry to thus improve accuracy. Moreover, it is possible to determine the amount of laundry within a short time. Consequently, it is easy to commence the spin-drying operation, thereby reducing washing time and saving energy.

A drying apparatus including a drying unit and a processor configured to control an operation of the drying unit. The processor is configured to, based on a drying request being received, identify whether the drying request is an initial drying command for a material to be dried or an additional drying request for the material to be dried, and based on the drying request being identified as the additional drying command, control the drying unit to perform an additional drying operation for the material to be dried based on a drying operation method corresponding to a previous drying command for the material to be dried.

The method includes: performing a tub loading process comprising operating supply valve(s) to provide a first volume of water through a detergent supply system and into a tub to fill the tub with wash liquid; performing a washing process comprising rotating a drum to agitate laundry in in the presence of the wash liquid; performing a static rinsing process comprising operating a pump to remove any free volume of wash liquid from the tub without rotating the drum; and performing one or more rinsing processes comprising: operating the supply valve(s) to provide a volume of clean rinse water to the tub, operating the pump to remove the rinse water from the drum, and operating the motor to spin the drum at high speed to extract rinse water from the laundry, while continuing to operate the pump.

The method includes determining a first moisture extraction curve of a spin cycle of the washing machine appliance and determining a second moisture extraction curve of the dryer appliance. The method further includes rotating a basket of the washing machine appliance at an extraction speed for a predetermined period of time. The predetermined period of time is based on the first moisture extraction curve and the second moisture extraction curve.

The drying device of the present disclosure may comprise: a drum; a driving unit; a heater to heat air supplied to the interior of the drum; a communication interface; and a processor that: when a user command for a drying cycle is received, controls the driving unit so as to rotate the drum in a preset pattern; when data generated on a basis of motion of a sensing device is received through the communication interface from at least one sensing device, identifies a sensing device that has a motion corresponding to the preset pattern among the at least one sensing device; and controls the driving unit and the heater so as to perform a drying cycle on the basis of humidity data received through the communication interface from the identified sensing device.
