Methods for recycling cotton and polyester fibers from waste textiles

Systems and methods are provided that involve a subcritical water reaction to recycle the cellulose and polyester components of waste cotton and cotton/polyester blend textiles that would otherwise be discarded or disposed of. Specifically, the disclosed methods provide for treatment of the waste textiles to produce advanced materials including cellulose and terephthalic acid (TPA) with a low environmental impact. The cellulose and TPA that are produced are of a high quality allowing for production of regenerated cellulose and regenerated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) suitable for fiber spinning and textile applications.

DISPERSION SOLUTION HAVING ANTIVIRAL PROPERTY

A dispersion solution including a solvent which contains fine particles of a copper compound, a stabilizer, a fatty acid, a fatty acid ester of the fatty acid, and a polycarboxylic acid. The fine particles of the copper compound having antiviral property are homogeneously dispersed in the dispersion medium maintaining stability over extended periods of time.

Sewing thread treatment agent and sewing thread

An object of the present invention is to provide a sewing thread treatment agent, and a sewing thread, each achieving low friction properties across a wide range of sewing speeds. As a solution, a sewing thread treatment agent is provided, which is characterized in that it contains a hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (A), a nonionic surfactant (B), and at least one type of wax (C) selected from paraffin wax, oxidized paraffin wax, polyethylene wax, oxidized polyethylene wax, and carnauba wax.

Solid concentrated fabric softener composition

A solid fabric softening composition is disclosed which includes a quaternary ammonium fabric softening compound which is stabilized to form a solid with a mixture of a water soluble organic salt and a medium to long chain carboxylic acid. This stabilizing combination has been shown to effectively form a solid quaternary ammonium based fabric softening composition with up to as much as 70% by weight of quaternary ammonium compound. The formulations are stable at typical storage temperatures of up to 110 F. and provide fabric softening similar to and even superior to other traditional liquid formulations.

A method for treating a sulfur-containing fabric and sulfur-containing fabrics with excellent antimicrobial properties are disclosed. First an aluminum salt is added to a sulfur-containing fabric. That product is then rinsed. The rinsed product is combined with an antimicrobial. In one embodiment, the sulfur-containing fabric is combined with an aqueous solution of an oxidizing agent prior to the addition of the aluminum salt. Fabrics treated by the method retain excellent antimicrobial activity even after repeated washings.
