Wettable SMS material for personal protective equipment applications
A wettable SMS material for personal protective equipment, such as a SMS fabric that has been treated to improve the wettability and absorbency properties of the SMS fabric is provided. A treated SMS fabric for personal protective equipment can retain its durability, breathability, and comfort, and may also provide the fabric with wettability and absorption properties. An article for personal protective equipment formed from a wettable SMS fabric is also provided.

A sizing agent for carbon fiber includes component (A), component (B), and component (C), in which the component (A) is at least one selected from the group consisting of component (A-1), component (A-2), and component (A-3); the component (A-1) is a urethane compound having a structure of Formula (1-1) in the molecule, the component (A-2) is an ester compound having a structure represented by Formula (1-2) in the molecule, the component (A-3) is an amide compound having a structure of Formula (1-3) in the molecule; the component (B) is an epoxy compound selected from the group consisting of an epoxy compound represented by Formula (2), an epoxy compound represented by Formula (3), and an epoxy compound represented by Formula (4); and the component (C) is a bisphenol type epoxy compound.

Surface treatment agent
A water- and oil-repellent agent that is an aqueous dispersion containing (A) a fluorine-free polymer having repeating units derived from a fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer, (B) a wax, (C) an aqueous medium, and (D) an emulsifier. The fluorine-free (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer is a compound represented by the formula CH.sub.2═CA.sup.11-C(═O)—O-A.sup.12 where A.sup.11 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and A.sup.12 is a linear or branched C.sub.18-30 hydrocarbon group. The emulsifier includes a sorbitan ester and another emulsifier, and the emulsifier has a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) of 7.5 to 13.5. Also disclosed is a method of producing the water- and oil-repellent agent and a method of producing a treated substrate by applying the water- and oil-repellent agent to a substrate.
ELASTIC FIBER TREATING AGENT AND ELASTIC FIBERS
The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an elastic fiber treating agent that can improve the morphological characteristics of elastic fibers; and elastic fibers that have the elastic fiber treating agent adhered thereto. This elastic fiber treating agent is characterized by containing: at least one smoothing agent (A) selected from mineral oil, silicone oil, and ester oil; and an unsaturated fatty acid metal salt (B).

COATED MICROFIBROUS WEB AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A coated microfibrous web, a method for producing the same, the use thereof as a covering of a radiation protection material, and a radiation protection device are described. The coated microfibrous web contains: (i) a microfibrous web containing one or more polyesters and/or one or more polyamides and/or one or more polyamide-polyester copolymers and having an impregnation composition containing (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, the dicarboxylic groups of which are each esterified with a diol, and/or (b) one or more oligomers, each containing 2 to 10 repeat units consisting of a monoester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid impregnated with a diol; and (ii) a layer comprising polyurethane which is present only on one side of the microfibrous web.

Hydrophobic extenders in non-fluorinated surface effect coatings
The present invention relates to a coated article comprising a partial or complete durable non-fluorinated coating on the surface of an article, wherein the coating comprises 5 to 95% by weight of a hydrophobic compound, and 5 to 95% by weight of a surface effect agent, both based on the total solids weight of the coating, where the hydrophobic compound is selected from a hydrophobic cyclic or acyclic alcohol.
