A device for stimulating saliva production in a subject includes a source of vibratory motion and a saliva stimulation assembly configured to elicit a salivary response by delivery of a vibratory stimulus. The saliva stimulation assembly includes one or more contact points coupled to the source of vibratory motion and configured to be placed against one or more stimulation sites on one or more portions of skin of the subject. The source of vibratory motion is configured such that, when the source of vibratory motion is operating and the one or more contact points are placed against the stimulation site, the one or more contact points vibrate at a stimulation frequency that produces a stimulus transmitted via the at least one portion of skin to the one or more salivary glands to stimulate saliva production by the one or more salivary glands.

An instrument, article and method are provided for minimizing pain during administration by injection of a liquid, such as, an anesthetic. The instrument has a forward end. A lightpipe mounted freely for vibration projects out of the forward end. The article, a single use tip, is composed of a tip sleeve removably mounted on the forward end of the instrument and a tip member removably mounted on the projecting lightpipe to vibrate a preselected injection site on a human or animal. The tip sleeve and tip member are covered by an elastic overmold that enables the tip member to vibrate freely with respect to the tip sleeve and light from the lightpipe to illuminate the injection site. A vibration unit mounted in the instrument is coupled to the lightpipe. The method is carried out by imparting vibrations and illumination via the lightpipe to the tip member.

A myofascial release apparatus (MRA) for relieving at least one hyperirritable area via the vibrational energy in one of interior to an oral cavity and exterior to the oral cavity. MRA may include a handle and a motor that is operably engaged with the handle and is configured to generate a mechanical energy.
