Flame resistant finished fabrics exhibiting water repellency and methods for making the same
Fabrics that are exhibit water repellency, abrasion resistance, and optionally flame resistance are described herein. The fabrics include a plurality of fibers (such as flame resistant fibers) and a finish that imparts water repellency and abrasion resistance to the fibers. The fabrics are free or substantially free from alkylfluoropolymers. Also described herein are garments including the fabrics.
NON-FLUOROCARBON LAUNDRY TREATMENT PROVIDING ENHANCED FLUID REPELLENCY
Non-fluorocarbon compositions for providing enhanced fluid repellency on various surfaces, including for laundry treatments in a finishing step of a laundry process, are disclosed. Non-fluorocarbon laundry treatment compositions and compositions including the non-fluorocarbon chemistries and a substrate surface are also disclosed along with methods of using the same in a laundry application.

MODIFIED NATURAL MATERIAL AND USE THEREOF
An oil repellent agent including a modified natural product having at least one hydroxyl group, wherein a hydrogen atom of the hydroxyl group is replaced with an R group represented by —Y—Z, wherein Y represents a direct bond, —C(═O)—, —C(═O)—NR′— or —C(═S)—NR′—, where R′ represents a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl group); and Z represents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 40 carbon atoms and optionally having a substituent or a polysiloxane. The natural material is a natural product other than starch and preferably is a monosaccharide, a polysaccharide, glycerin or polyglycerin. Also disclosed is a textile product to which the oil-resistant agent is attached, an oil-resistant paper and a method of treating paper with the oil-resistant agent.
Method for making fluorocarbon free emulsions without using traditional surfactants/emulsifiers by emulsifying alkoxysilanes or other non-water soluble hydrophobizing agents using amino functional siloxanes and the uses thereof
The present invention relates to an improved emulsified composition comprising a) —one or more amino functional siloxanes of the formula I b) —one or more hydrolysable alkyl silans of the formula II c) an acid d) water e) a defoamer f) a coalescent agent and optionally one or more of a preservative, co-emulsifier, catalyst, rheology modifier, fatty acid, oil and/or wax,
the process of preparing it and the application method of enhancing the water repellence of an inorganic, organic or fiber based materials and/or enhancing the said materials ability to repel water soluble dirt, as well as an apparatus for use in said method.
Garment incorporating waterproof or water resilient aqueous polyurethane dispersions and/or having altered stress profile
Articles, such as garments, including films comprising dried aqueous polyurethane dispersions are disclosed, whereby the garment has an altered stress which is exhibited during wear of the garment and/or has one or more sections of waterproof or water-resilient fabric. The film may be bonded to the fabric of the article to provide a fabric or film laminate.
DISPERSION
A dispersion containing a fluorine-containing polymer and a liquid medium. The fluorine-containing polymer includes a repeating unit derived from a fluorine-containing monomer (a) having a Q value of 2.0 or more and comprising a fluoroalkyl group, and a repeating unit derived from a chloride monomer (b) that is at least one selected from vinyl chloride and vinylidene chloride. Further, the dispersion has a concentration of unreacted chloride monomer (b) of 2.0 ppm or less.
Garment
Provided is a knit fabric which does not cause feelings of clamminess, feels very cool to the touch and is comfortable, and limits feelings of stickiness and post-sweat chill through rapid drying of sweat, and at the same time is capable of further improving texture. The garment comprises a multilayer-structure circular-knit fabric made of a single circular knit with a layered structure of at least two layers, and the surface that contacts the skin is the needle-loop side of the circular-knit fabric. The circular-knit fabric has portions in which long cellulose fibers and hydrophobic fibers are knit together to form the same knit loops. The garment contains 10-50 weight % of the long cellulose fibers. The exposure rate of the long cellulose fibers in the region from the surface of the side that contacts the skin to 0.13 mm into the interior of the circular-knit fabric is at least 30%.
Active ingredient preparation for a steam generator
An active ingredient preparation may be used in steam generators that includes at least one specific carrier material and at least one specific active ingredient. The active ingredient preparation may be used together with steam for steaming textiles. A functional element for a hand-held steam generator for treating textiles may include the active ingredient preparation in or on a carrier element. Finally, a method for steaming textiles may include or consist of providing a steam generator having a functional element, generating steam in the steam generator, bringing the steam into contact with the active ingredient preparation, and then applying the steam, which contains the active ingredient preparation, to a textile to be steamed.
Method for producing a water-repellent textile
A water-repellent textile is produce by applying to a textile a solution of Al.sub.13 nanoclusters or aluminum nitrate or hydrates of aluminum nitrate in a solvent to produce a wetted textile; and photo-annealing the wetted textile with ultraviolet light having a wavelength in the range of 180 nm to 260 nm to produce an Al.sub.2O.sub.3 coating on fibers of the textile. The textile may be, for example, cotton, polyester, wool, nylon, chiffon, nubuck, leather, burlap, silk, denim, or any combination thereof. Preferably, the solvent is a solubilizing organic solvent, pure water, or a miscible organic/water solvent mixture.
