ARTIFICIAL TURF FREE OF INFILL MATERIAL
20210404127 · 2021-12-30 ·

An artificial turf system for installation over a receiving surface is described. The artificial turf system comprising: a sheet member made of a flexible material, the sheet member defining a first surface for interfacing with the receiving surface and a second surface; primary yarns made of straight fibers backstitched in and threaded through the sheet member and upwardly extending from the sheet member to a first elevation; and secondary yarns made of textured fibers backstitched in and threaded through the sheet member and upwardly extending from the sheet member at a second elevation less than the first elevation which is caused by a difference in texture between the primary yarns and the secondary yarns, wherein the secondary yarns are more rigid than the primary yarns, and wherein the primary yarns and the secondary yarns have ends which are cut after being threaded through the sheet member.

A METHOD TO MAKE BICOMPONENT FIBERS AND ARTICLES COMPRISING THE SAME
20230257909 · 2023-08-17 ·

The disclosure generally relates to bicomponent fibers, and more particularly, methods to make bicomponent fibers and articles comprising them, wherein a first extruded component has a moisture level less than a second extruded component. The bicomponent fibers may comprise polyesters and are useful in articles such as carpets and fabrics.

Recyclable Single Polymer Floorcovering Article

This invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles, including carpet tiles and broadloom carpet. In particular, this invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles made from the family of polymers known as polyester. Specifically, this invention relates to tufted carpet tile products made from polyester. The polyester carpet tiles meet commercial performance specifications and are fully end-of-life recyclable.

TWISTED AND HEAT-SET BCF YARN COMPRISING SIDE-BY-SIDE BI-COMPONENT FILAMENT, METHOD FOR FORMING SUCH YARN AND A FLOOR COVERING MATERIAL COMPRISING SUCH YARN
20230304219 · 2023-09-28 · ·

Disclosure provides a twisted and heat-set Bulked Continuous side-by-side bi-component Filament (BCF) yarn including a plurality of side-by-side bi-component filaments, each includes first and second polymer components. The first polymer component forms a first side of the side-by-side bi-component filaments, and includes polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) in at least 25 and up to 75 volume percent of the filament in the BCF yarn. Further, the second polymer component forms a second side of the side-by-side bi-component filaments, and includes one of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polylactic acid (PLA) in at most 75 and down to 25 volume percent of the filament in the BCF yarn. The twisted and heat-set BCF yarn is obtained by a single-step continuous process, and subsequently followed by steps of twisting and/or cabling and heat-setting. The twisted and heat-set BCF yarn as obtained exhibits an elongation to break in a range of 40% to 65%, and floor covering manufactured from the yarn exhibits a Hexapod rating after 12000 cycles of more than 2.

A deconstructed tufted carpet having an at least partially visible primary backing. In aspects, deconstructed carpet can utilize the primary backing layer as a design element of the overall pattern and styling in order to reduce material use, waste and the ounce weight of the finished carpet and to improve the method of carpet construction. In order to expose the primary backing, at least some yarn can be pulled very low in the pattern areas to expose the primary backing layer. It is contemplated that the primary backing layer can have a color that comprises part of the overall pattern and styling of the carpet.
