Polyethylene Fabric, and Backing and Artificial Turf Made Therefrom
The present invention relates to a fabric, such as a backing suitable for tufted carpets or artificial turf, comprising slit films, tapes or monofilaments, said slit film, tape or monofilament comprising at least 70% by weight of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition based on the total weight of the slit film, tape or monofilament. The metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition comprised in the slit film, tape or monofilament is a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition comprises: a) at least 45% by weight based on the total weight of the metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A, wherein said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A has a density of at most 0.918 g/cm.sup.3, and a melt index MI2 of at most 4.0 g/10 min; and b) at least 25% by weight based on the total weight of the metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene B, wherein said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene B has a density which is higher than the density of said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A; and a melt index MI2 which is higher than the melt index MI2 said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A.
The invention further relates to processes for manufacturing said fabric, such as processes for manufacturing a backing suitable for artificial turf, processes for manufacturing the slit film, tape or monofilament and to articles, e.g. a (woven) fabric, comprising said slit film, tape or monofilament obtained by said processes.
NON-UNIFORM ARTIFICIAL TURF INFILL
An artificial turf simulating grass including a layer of dispersed non-uniform, polyvinyl chloride-based particulates having non-symmetrical shapes and different sizes.
Warp-Knit Structure Suitable For Vehicular Accessory Mat Or Cargo Management System
A warp-knit structure that is particularly suited to provide an acceptable coefficient of friction (COF) for a vehicle accessory mat or vehicle cargo management system when used with non-woven or tufted type flooring. The floor mat or cargo management system is therefore one that is adapted for repeated engagement and disengagement with both non-woven and tufted flooring present in a vehicle.
Ultra-resilient pad
A structure for use in a compressible resilient pad. The structure contains both axially elastomeric yarns and relatively inelastic yarns in various patterns. The structure has a high degree of both compressibility under an applied normal load and excellent recovery (resiliency or spring back) upon removal of that load.
TUFTED CARPET INCLUDING POLYETHYLENETEREPHTHALATE BULKED CONTINUOUS FILAMENT
A monofilament of a polyethylene terephthalate bulked continuous filament (BCF) has elongation of 5% or more at an initial stress of 1.0 g/d, elongation of 25 to 35% at a medium-term stress of 3.0 g/d, tensile strength of .0 to 6.0g/d, and elongation of 40 to 60%.
Novel Artificial Turf and Methods of Making Same
Disclosed are artificial turfs having a nonwoven backing layer and a plurality of turf fibers extending through the nonwoven backing layer such that a face side portion of the turf fibers extends from the face side of the nonwoven backing layer and a back side portion of the turf fibers extends from the back side of the nonwoven backing layer, wherein at least a portion of the back side portion of turf fibers are bonded to themselves. Also disclosed herein are the methods of making the same.
NEEDLE PUNCHED CARPET
A needle punched carpet for use in a car is disclosed. The needle punched carpet comprises at least a needle punched facing layer defining a top layer and made of staple fibers. The staple fibers comprise hollow fibers having a hollow fiber content that is at least more than 45 weight % of the total staple fibers.
PRIMARY BACKING FOR ARTIFICIAL TURF, METHOD FOR ITS MANUFACTURE AND ARTIFICIAL TURF COMPRISING THE PRIMARY BACKING
A primary backing having a component having a front surface and a rear surface, a second component having a front surface and a rear surface placed adjacent and plane-parallel to the first component, and an optional third component having a front surface and a rear surface placed adjacent and plane-parallel to the second component, wherein the first component comprises a two-dimensional material layer, an extruded sheet, and a non-woven fabric and/or a woven fabric. The second component comprises a three-dimensional structure, wherein the three-dimensional structure is build-up from macroscopic thermoplastic fibers, the fibers cross one another at crossing points and are thermally bonded to one another at their crossing points, and the third component comprises a further two-dimensional material layer, wherein the material layer comprises an extruded sheet, a non-woven fabric, a woven fabric and/or a two-dimensional layer of macroscopic fibers.
Recyclable single polymer floorcovering article
This invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles, including carpet tiles and broadloom carpet. In particular, this invention relates to tufted floorcovering articles made from the family of polymers known as polyester. Specifically, this invention relates to tufted carpet tile products made from polyester. The polyester carpet tiles meet commercial performance specifications and are fully end-of-life recyclable.
