The present disclosure provides a production method for an amide group-containing monomer. With the present disclosure, an amide group-containing monomer in which the amount of impurities is low is efficiently produced, the production method including a transesterification reaction step for obtaining an amide group-containing monomer represented by a formula CH.sub.2C(R.sup.11)C(O)OY.sup.1NHC(O)R.sup.12 (in the formula, R.sup.11 is a hydrogen atom, a monovalent organic group, or a halogen atom, Y.sup.1 is a 2-4 valent hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms, and R.sup.12 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 6-40 carbon atoms) from an amide group-containing alcohol represented by a formula HOY.sup.1NHC(O)R.sup.12 (in the formula, Y.sup.1 is a 2-4 valent hydrocarbon group having 1-6 carbon atoms and R.sup.12 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 6-40 carbon atoms), wherein the total amount of Na, K, and Li present as impurities of the amide group-containing alcohol is equal to or less than 300 ppm.

The coating layer has a thickness between 5 m and 250 m and includes at least one inorganic flame retardant compound in a quantity which is sufficient for the coated textile to have a gross calorific value of less than or equal to 3 MJ/kg, the inorganic flame retardant compound having a D50 granule size of less than 50 m.

A softening agent composition including (1) a silicone polymer, (2) a water-repellent polymer, (3) an emulsifier, and (4) a liquid medium that is water or a mixture of water and an organic solvent. Also disclosed is a method for producing the softening agent composition which includes producing a water-repellent polymer by polymerizing, in the presence of the silicone polymer, a monomer that constitutes the water-repellent polymer. The water-repellent polymer may be at least one selected from the group consisting of fluorine-containing polymers and non-fluorine-containing polymers. Also disclosed is a method for treating a substrate with the softening agent composition and a substrate treated with the softening agent composition.

A sleeve has a textile wall having a circumferentially continuous outer surface extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite open ends. The textile wall includes heat-resistant multifilament yarn and an impervious coating extending about the outer surface of the textile wall to allow the sleeve to withstand heat up to 1000 C. or greater for a continuous duration of 20 minutes or more. The impervious coating includes one of a silicone ingredient, a silicone-based ingredient, a liquid silicone rubber ingredient, a polytetrafluoroethylene ingredient, or a polyurethane ingredient, and includes at least one of carbon black pigmentation and iron oxide pigmentation impregnated therein.

B-stageable aqueous binder compositions

An aqueous binder composition is disclosed that includes 5.0% by weight to 50.0% by weight of a monomeric polyol having at least four hydroxyl groups, based on the total solids content of the aqueous binder composition; and at least 50.0% by weight of a cross-linking agent comprising a polymeric polycarboxylic acid having at least two carboxylic acid groups, based on the total solids content of the aqueous binder composition. The aqueous binder composition includes a ratio of molar equivalents of carboxylic acid groups to hydroxyl groups is between 0.15/1.0 and 2.23/1 and has a pH of 2.2 to 4.0 and a viscosity at 40% solids and 25 C. of 10 cP to 60 cP.

Devices and methods related to a chitosan-enhanced melamine sponge are provided. A method comprises grafting chitosan on the melamine sponge matrix via the chemical with two or more carboxyl groups; and crosslinking the chitosan with crosslinker under a heating procedure to make a more robust melamine sponge with a larger surface and smaller pores. The chitosan-enhanced melamine sponge is used to separate chemicals from water as a gravity flow-driven filter, and it can be compressed and backwashed for regeneration.
