Surface coverings including carbon sequestering materials and methods of making

Floor coverings, such as modular panels or tiles, for installation on interior surfaces include an upper wear layer and a backing layer, where the backing layer includes a filler that includes concentrated carbon. The floor coverings can sequester carbon such that the resulting product has a negative carbon footprint when subjected to a Life Cycle Assessment.

Floor covering

A one step method for integrally attaching a backing cover to a universal fiber-reinforced backing before curing. The manufacturing method includes attaching a porous cover to a reinforcement configuration of fibers and adhesive before curing. The cover is pressed against the fibers and adhesive for compressing, collapsing, and flattening the ends of the stitch portions. The compressing and collapsing actions cause adhesive and fibers to be directed toward and forced into the porous cover. Adhesive and reinforcement fibers provide an integral attachment of the cover to the reinforced backing before and after curing.

Method to Manufacture a Recyclable Textile Product and the Said Product

A method to manufacture a (recyclable) polyester textile product is disclosed which includes providing a first polyester sheet, stitching polyester yarns through the first sheet to form a pile on a first surface of the first sheet, the pile extending from this first surface, and to form loops of the yarns at an opposing second surface of the first sheet, applying a first quantity of a dispersion including an aqueous dispersion medium and polyester particles dispersed in the medium, to the second surface of the first sheet, thereafter removing the aqueous dispersion medium from the said quantity of the aqueous dispersion, heating the polyester particles to above a temperature at which the polyester of these particles softens, and subsequently cooling the polyester of the particles to below a temperature at which this polyester solidifies to therewith interconnect the loops and the first sheet with the solidified polyester.

CARPET TILES AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME

A carpet tile having a greige good, an adhesive layer, and a secondary backing material. The greige good has a primary backing component and a plurality of fibers attached to the primary backing component. The adhesive layer has an adhesive composition and a reinforcement material that is at least partially embedded within the adhesive composition. The adhesive layer is applied to a back surface of the primary backing component. The secondary backing material is adhered to the primary backing component by contact with a portion of the adhesive composition that flows through the reinforcement material. The reinforcement material and the secondary backing material are co-laminated onto the adhesive composition.

Surface and Edge Attachment for Installation of Multi-Component Floor Mat

This invention relates to a washable multi-component floor mat. The floor mat contains a textile component and a base component. The textile component and the base component are attached to one another by at least one surface attraction means and at least one edge attachment means. The textile component is designed to be soiled, washed, and re-used, thereby providing ideal end-use applications in areas such as building entryways. The present invention eliminates the need to wash the base component of the floor mat which results in environmental, cost and labor conservation.

Tile, in Particular Carpet Tile, and Covering of Such Tiles

The invention relates to a tile, in particular a carpet tile. The invention also relates to the use a tile according to the invention as floor tile, wall tile, or ceiling tile. The invention further relates to a tile covering consisting of a plurality of tiles according to the invention. The invention additionally relates to a carpet covering consisting of at least one carpet tile according to the invention.

LOW WEIGHT MODULAR CARPET COMPONENTS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

A low-weight carpet tile and process for making the same, wherein the carpet tile comprises a facecloth having a plurality of face yarns tufted through a primary backing, an extruded polymer secondary backing layer, and a reinforcing scrim layer partially embedded within the extruded polymer secondary backing layer. The top surface and bottom surface of the carpet tile are defined by the facecloth and the reinforcing scrim layer, respectively. A polymer-based resin is extruded onto the facecloth to form an at least substantially uniform secondary backing layer, and the reinforcing scrim layer is laid onto the extruded polymer secondary backing layer while the extruded polymer secondary backing layer remains above a softening temperature for the resin. The entire multi-layer web is then passed through a nip to embed the reinforcing scrim layer into the extruded polymer secondary layer, and the entire web is chilled.

NONWOVEN FABRIC HAVING ENHANCED WITHDRAWAL FORCE FOR CARPET BACKING FABRIC AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to a nonwoven fabric having enhanced withdrawal force for a carpet backing fabric, which is composed of a nonwoven fabric comprising 50 to 90% by weight of polyester filaments having a melting point of 250 C. or higher and 10 to 50% by weight of low-melting point copolyester filaments having a melting point of 200 C. or lower. According to the present disclosure, a nonwoven fabric comprising low-melting point polyester fibers is used as a backing fabric and the thickness of the backing fabric is controlled, so that the withdrawal force of carpets is enhanced, thereby suppressing the falling out of BCF yarns from the carpet.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A PLATE SHAPED PRODUCT AND PLATE SHAPED PRODUCT MANUFACTURED THEREBY

A method is presented for manufacturing a plate shaped product, comprising the steps of manufacturing a first intermediate product which comprises at least, successively, a carrier, a plastic printing layer, a decorative print layer and a plastic protective layer, by using a multiple coating process, manufacturing a second intermediate product which comprises at least one plastic layer, by using at least a calendering process, and combining the first and second intermediate products by laminating, such that the second intermediate product is attached to the first intermediate product. Further a plate shaped product is provided which is manufactured using said method.
