Resuscitation system
A resuscitation system for use in the resuscitation of a subject includes a computing device configured to input subject information and use the subject information to create a subject resuscitation strategy, a sensor configured to detect subject biosignals and use the subject biosignals to monitor for a subject cardiac arrest event, and a defibrillator configured to determine and deliver a subject resuscitation treatment. On determination of a subject cardiac arrest event, the sensor outputs sensor subject biosignals to the computing device. The computing device uses the sensor subject biosignals to adapt the subject resuscitation strategy and output the subject resuscitation strategy to the defibrillator. The defibrillator measures subject biodata and uses the subject biodata and the subject resuscitation strategy to determine and deliver a subject resuscitation treatment. During subject resuscitation treatment, the defibrillator repeatedly uses measured subject biodata and the subject resuscitation strategy to adapt the subject resuscitation treatment.
AUTOMATIC SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EVALUATING AND TREATING VISUAL HEALTH
A system and method is useful for treating amblyopia and other conditions by visual stimulation of the brain. Automatic discrimination between a pair or more of similar body organs, such as the eyes is accomplished for improved safety and efficacy of a treatment. Automatic measurement of a physiological parameter or state in response to a stimulation treatment (responsiveness) over time is also accomplished. Measurements are done over time, within the same treatment session, or between the same treatment session to allow for adapting the visual stimulation used for test and assessment purposes, visual stimulation used for treatment, or a combination of testing and treatment.
Erotic dream induction apparatus
An erotic dream induction apparatus includes an inflatable air bladder, such as a rubber balloon, to induce sexual arousal via genital stimulation. The air bladder is brought into contact with either the penis or vagina of the user, and/or is inserted into the anus and/or vagina of the user. In one embodiment, the air bladder is brought into contact with the penis, vagina, and/or anus of the user by being maintained in position near, against, or around the penis, vagina, and/or anus by means of straps or pockets in stimulation underwear, such that when the air bladder is inflated, the air bladder makes contact with at least a portion of the penis, vagina, and/or anus of the user. The air bladder is repeatedly inflated and deflated by pumps and/or valves.
Apparatus and method for the conditioned desynchronized non-invasive stimulation
A device with a non-invasive first stimulation unit configured to generate first stimuli which, when administered to a patient, suppress a pathologically synchronous activity of neurons in at least one of the brain and the spinal cord of the patient, with a non-invasive second stimulation unit configured to generate at least one of optical, acoustic, tactile, vibratory, and thermal second stimuli, and with a control unit configured to control the first and second stimulation units, wherein the generation of the first and second stimuli takes place optionally in a first or a second operating mode, and the control unit is configured to control the first and second stimulation units in such a way that, in the first operating mode, the generation of at least 60% of the second stimuli is coupled in time to the generation of the first stimuli and, in the second operating mode, the generation of at least 60% of the second stimuli takes place without the generation of the first stimuli.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPROVING HEART-RATE VARIABILITY
The present invention discloses neuro-stimulation systems and methods for affecting cardiovascular function, particularly for improving heart rate variability and treating arrhythmia.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CALIBRATING A NON-INVASIVE MECHANICALLY TACTILE AND/OR THERMAL NEUROSTIMULATION
A device for stimulating neurons that includes a stimulation unit that applies mechanically tactile and/or thermal stimuli to the body surface of a patient that stimulate neurons with a pathologically synchronous and oscillatory neural activity. The device includes a measuring unit that records measurement signals of neural activity of the stimulated neurons, and a controller that controls the stimulation unit and analyzes the measurement signals. The controller actuates the stimulation unit to scan at least one part of the body surface of the patient along a path and thereby periodically applies stimuli and also selects two regions or more regions on the patient's body surface along the path where the phase synchronization between the periodic application of the stimuli and the neural activity of the stimulated neurons have a local maximum using the measurement signals. The stimuli are then applied in a delayed manner in the two regions.
Vibration pattern for vibration stimulation
A method of treatment by vibration stimulation is provided. The method includes providing an expandable stimulation member adapted to impart vibrations to body tissue of a human subject; introducing the stimulation member into a body cavity of the human subject; expanding the stimulation member to a volume such that the stimulation member abuts against body tissue within the body cavity; bringing the stimulation member to vibrate such that vibrations are imparted to the body tissue in the body cavity of the human subject according to a vibration pattern, wherein the vibration pattern includes a main periodic element of a first frequency and an excitation stimulus of a second frequency higher than the first frequency.
Apparatus and method for treating a patient using vibration stimuli, tactile stimuli and/or thermal stimuli
A device and method are provided for treating a patient with vibration and/or tactile and/or thermal stimuli. The device includes first and second stimulating units for generating first and second stimuli respectively. The stimuli are vibration and/or tactile and/or thermal stimuli, and each of the stimuli is repeated on average at a frequency of 1 to 60 Hz. The stimuli are generated partly at different times.
MONOTONOUS GAME-LIKE TASK TO PROMOTE EFFORTLESS AUTOMATIC RECOGNITION OF SIGHT WORDS
System and methods are provided to promote effortless automatic recognition of common sight words. A subject performs a game-like task that generates novel non-verbal visual stimuli that triggers visual attention shifts that enhance foveal and parafoveal recognition of non-verbal and verbal stimuli laterally presented in the right or left visual field. The present invention engages a shared motor-perceptual-cognitive neural network involving oculomotor, visuo-motor and selective executive cognitive behaviors on both brain hemispheres. The present invention has applications to a wide range of non-verbal pre-orthographic visual processes and early lexical processes, not only contributing to enabling reading fluency to dyslexics, reluctant and slow readers, but also to beginning readers. The present invention has wide applications in learning disabilities and normative individuals learning to read.
SEQUENTIAL COMPRESSION THERAPY COMPLIANCE MONITORING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system includes a sequential compression device (SCD) used by a patient as part of a sequential compression therapy (SCT) protocol. The system also includes a computer device that determines whether the SCD is in use in substantially real time in compliance with the protocol. The computer device initiates a notification to a caregiver if noncompliance with the SCT protocol is detected.
