A textile material comprises a plurality of yarns, the yarns containing an intimate blend of dyed polyphenylene sulfide fibers and aramid fibers. The dyed polyphenylene sulfide fibers comprising a disperse dye that is distributed substantially evenly across the cross-sectional area of the fibers. A method for dyeing textile materials containing polyphenylene sulfide fibers comprises the steps of (a) providing a plurality of polyphenylene sulfide fibers and aramid fibers; (b) spinning the blend of fibers into a plurality of yarns; (c) forming the yarns into a textile material; (d) subjecting the textile material to a polyphenylene sulfide dyeing process.

DYE RECYCLING METHODS

A method for recycling dye from a dyed textile, the method comprising providing a textile coloured with a dye; adding the textile to a bath comprising a solution of ionic liquid, thereby causing the dye to strip from the textile and to disperse within said solution.

Fabric Response Characteristics for Laser Finishing

A fabric has enhanced response characteristics for laser finishing. The fabric can be denim for denim apparel such as jeans. Software and lasers are used to finish apparel made of the fabric to produce a desired wear or distressing pattern or other design. The fabric allows for relatively fast color change in response to the laser, color changes in hue from indigo blue to white, many grayscale levels, and maintains strength and stretch properties. A method used to make the fabric includes spinning, dyeing, and weaving yarns in such a way to obtain the desired enhanced response characteristics for laser finishing.

A filter for capturing dyestuff is provided. The filter includes a housing defining an inlet. The housing further includes an outlet spaced from the inlet. The housing further includes a cartridge in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The inlet is adapted to receive effluent including dyestuff and the outlet is adapted to release the effluent. The filter further includes a substrate disposed within the cartridge. The substrate includes an active material. The active material has an affinity for the dyestuff. The dyestuff is present in the effluent at the inlet in a first amount and not present in the effluent at the outlet or present in a second amount with the second amount less than the first amount. The filter is composed of a textile composition made fiber or fabric which can be recycled by mulching back into a dyed fiber upcycling the normally wasted dyestuff, to now be reused in an upcycled dyed textile production. The filter with its reusable cartridge, the substrate which bonds and upcycles waste dyestuff operates in a linear or preferable circular economy.
