SPREADING DEPOLARIZATION AND REPOLARIZATION AS BIOMARKERS OF NEUROLOGICAL RECOVERY AFTER CARDIAC ARREST
Electrophysiologic biomarkers for prognostication of neurological outcome are described herein. An inverse correlation was found between timing of a cortical spreading depolarization (SD) wave and neurological outcome as tested at 24 hours post-CPR. Additionally, a minor image of this SD was identified as a “repolarization (RP) wave.” Quantifying features of SD and RP during cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide important metrics for diagnosis and prognosis of neurological injury from hypoxia-ischemia and can serve as an early prognostication tool for predicting outcome at subsequent days after successful CPR. This discovery may also allow for novel therapeutic interventions to improve neurological recovery after hypoxia-ischemia insults.
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION DEVICE, CONTROL, METHOD AND COMPUTER PROGRAM
According to an aspect, there is provided a cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, device (1) for enhancing the delivery of CPR to a patient. The device (1) comprises: a patient side (3) for engagement with the chest of the patient; and a user side (2) for engagement with the hands of a user delivering CPR to the patient. One or more of the surface of the patient side (3) and the surface of the user side (2) is at least partially formed of a material with variable contact characteristics configured to be controlled so as to regulate the lateral force distribution profile at the one or more of the surface of the patient side (3) and the surface of the user side (2) from a force applied to the device (1) by the user and transferred through the device (1) to the patient. According to other aspects, there is provided a control method for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, device and a computer program which, when executed on a computing device, carries out a control method for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, device.
Method for monitoring and improving forward blood flow during CPR
Devices and methods for blood flow enhancement and hemodynamic power monitoring are provided. A blood flow enhancement device includes a pump system configured to be coupled to a central vasculature of a subject during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The pump system includes a pumping mechanism configured to increase forward blood flow generated during the CPR while substantially limiting backward blood flow generated during the CPR. The pumping mechanism being operated concurrently with the CPR. The hemodynamic power monitor is configured to control a chest compression device and an active valve.
METHOD FOR PROVIDING MENTAL MASSAGE TO HELP TREAT ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION, AND MASSAGE DEVICE
Disclosed are a method and a device for providing a mental massage to help treat anxiety and depression. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a massage device for providing a mental massage to help treat anxiety and depression is disclosed, the device including: a mental state determination unit for determining a mental state on the basis of a biosignal of a user; a mental massage pattern determination unit for determining a mental massage pattern on the basis of the determined mental state; and a mental massage provision unit for providing a massage on the basis of the mental massage pattern.
WEARABLE HEALTH MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A wearable health management system includes a flexible member configured to be worn on an affected area by a patient. At least one actuator is operably coupled to the flexible member. The at least one actuator is configured to be adjusted between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. At least one of a photoplethysmogram sensor and a bioimpedance sensor is coupled to the flexible member to obtain one or more health metrics from the patient. A controller is in communication with the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to adjust the at least one actuator to the deployed state to provide a selected pressure to the affected area.
