Systems and methods for coloring nanofibrous materials

A method for coloring a carbon nanotube (CNT) product is provided, including placing a CNT product in an electric circuit to ground the product, charging a plurality of pigment molecules with an opposite charge from the CNT product, applying a coating of the charged pigment molecules to a surface of the CNT product, and exposing the coating to a temperature sufficient to cure the coating, while allowing the coating to form a substantially conformal film on the surface of the CNT product.

TEXTILE PRINTING WITH INKJET INKS

A printing method includes selecting an inkjet ink including a pigment, and selecting an active agent, including an electromagnetic radiation-absorbing active material, and an aqueous or non-aqueous vehicle. The method further includes inkjet printing the inkjet ink and the active agent directly onto a textile fabric. The textile fabric having the ink and active agent thereon is exposed to electromagnetic radiation.

Provided is a multilayer sheet which can provide a color and a metallic luster favorably, while leaving design of a surface of a fiber substrate. The multilayer sheet according to the present invention is a multilayer sheet including a fiber substrate and a color tone adjusting layer disposed on a surface of the fiber substrate. The multilayer sheet includes a first surface and a second surface on a side opposite to the first surface. The fiber substrate is disposed on a side the first surface of the multilayer sheet, and the color tone adjusting layer is disposed on a side the second surface of the multilayer sheet. The color tone adjusting layer is a layer having a property that makes a color tone of the second surface of the multilayer sheet different from a color tone of the surface of the fiber substrate. The color tone adjusting layer has optical transparency.

A construct, for use in articles like apparel, footwear, backpacks, etc., the construct including a substrate, e.g., a textile, foam, leather or rubber material, having a surface of plasma transformed textile material; colorant set in the plasma transformed textile material, providing a change to the color of the underlying substrate material; and wherein the colorant and the plasma transformed substrate material are chemically bonded together.

Plasma treatments for coloration of textiles, fibers and other substrates

A method of treating a substrate, comprising providing a substrate having a generally sheet or planar form or a fiber or yarn form; providing a colorant to be set at the surface of the substrate; and subjecting the substrate and colorant to reactive species from a plasma generated by an atmospheric plasma apparatus until the colorant is set at the surface of the substrate. A method of setting a colorant on a substrate, comprising performing an etch operation, or plasma pre-treatment to change surface charge, on a substrate using a plasma, particularly a plasma generated at atmospheric conditions, to create a desired surface texture, or surface charge, at the surface of substrate; and depositing a colorant on the surface under plasma or non-plasma conditions; and allowing the colorant to set at the surface of the substrate.

TEXTILE PRINTING

Herein is described a method of printing on a textile substrate. The method may comprise: a. applying a primer comprising a cross-linkable primer resin onto a surface of the textile substrate to form a primer layer; b. electrophotographically printing onto the primer layer an electrostatic ink composition comprising a cross-linkable thermoplastic resin to form a printed layer; c. applying a cross-linking composition comprising a cross-linking agent to the printed layer, wherein i. the cross-linking agent penetrates into at least the electrostatic ink composition and the primer layer; and/or ii. the cross-linking agent is a non-isocyanate agent; and d. activating the cross-linking agent. Printed textiles are also described.

According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a color sensor is provided for sensing whether a ground roller in a corona treatment system needs to be serviced. The color sensor is capable of detecting imperfections which have changed the reflectance level of the ground roller from a predefined level. According to another aspect of the present disclosure, if a determination is made that the ground roller needs to be serviced, then an alarm is activated and/or the operation of the corona treatment system is ceased.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PLASMA COLOURATION AND PIGMENT FIXATION

A system for coating an article comprising a pigment applicator adapted to apply a pigment and a plasma module. The plasma module adapted to generate a plasma region. At least one of a chemistry and precursor can be supplied to the plasma generated in the plasma region such that the plasma region can at least in part polymerise the at least one of a chemistry and precursor to form a plasma polymerised coating. The pigment can be fixed to the article by the plasma polymerised coating.
