ELEVATOR LOAD BEARING MEMBER HAVING A FABRIC STRUCTURE
An illustrative example assembly for making an elevator load bearing member includes a fabric having a plurality of fibers arranged with some of the fibers transverse to others of the fibers. A plurality of cords are configured to support a load associated with an elevator car. The cords are included in the fabric and have respective coatings. The coatings include a first coating material and a second coating material, or include different coating thicknesses such that some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings, or the coatings include the first coating material and the second coating material and some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings.
Belt-type traction means and method for fabricating the traction means as well as use of said traction means in an elevator and an elevator provided with said traction means
A belt-type traction apparatus includes a herringbone toothed belt, which includes two edge parts and a center part between the two edge parts in a transverse direction of the herringbone toothed belt and connecting the edge parts in the transverse direction. The two edge parts and the center part each extend in a longitudinal direction of the herringbone toothed belt. The center part is associated with a first spring constant, the two edge parts are each associated with a second spring constant, and the first spring constant smaller than the second spring constant. Each edge part includes a tooth part and a support structure supporting the tooth part. Each support structure includes a plurality of reinforcement members extending in the longitudinal direction of the toothed belt.
Elevator belt with additive layer
A belt for an elevator system includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, a jacket material at least partially encapsulating the plurality of tension members, and a primary overlay layer applied to one or more of the plurality of tension members or at least a portion of the jacket material. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car movable therein, and a belt operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway. The belt includes a plurality of tension members arranged along a belt width and extending longitudinally along a belt length, a jacket material at least partially encapsulating the plurality of tension members, and a primary overlay layer applied to one or more of the plurality of tension members or at least a portion of the jacket material.
Load-bearing member surface treatment
A method of surface treating a load-bearing member comprising a tension member and a polymer jacket around the tension member is disclosed. According to the method, a liquid composition including water, a water-soluble organic polyol or a water-soluble organic polymer, and a surfactant is applied to a surface of the polymer jacket.
Armored Rigging System
An assembly and method for using a flexible tensile member as part of the rigging for a heavy machine such as those used in the mining industry. The inventive tensile member includes a core surrounded by a separate armor layer. The armor layer assumes various forms, including a hollow cylinder having a substantial wall thickness. The core produces excellent strength in tension (and with a substantial reduction in weight). The armor layer protects the core from external blows and forces produced by the weight of the other parts of the machine's rigging and the hostile environment in which the machine operates.
DURABLE DOG TOY
A method of manufacturing a dog toy, the dog toy including a rope, at least a segment of which is non-linear and a thermoplastic rubber coating surrounding some but not all of the rope. The dog toy is characterized as having exposed rope and rope covered by the thermoplastic rubber along its length such that a dog using the dog toy has access to the rope for chewing but the rope is resistant to degradation due to the thermoplastic rubber coating. The method includes bending the rope for a sufficient period of time such that the rope maintains its non-linear configuration, thereupon the rope is applied together with a pre-molded thermoplastic round core to a mold and the thermoplastic rubber is bonded to the rope to create the shape of the toy and to surround some, but not all of the rope with the thermoplastic rubber coating.
Surface construction of elevator belt
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a plurality of tension elements extending longitudinally along a length of the belt, and a jacket at least partially encapsulating the plurality of tension elements. The jacket defines a traction surface of the belt configured to be interactive with a drive sheave and a back surface opposite the traction surface. The jacket is formed from a first material. One or more material strips are located at one or more of the traction surface or the back surface to improve one or more operational characteristics of the belt. The one or more material strips formed from a second material different from the first material.
ELEVATOR SYSTEM BELT
A belt for an elevator system includes one or more tension members extending along a belt length, and a jacket at least partially encapsulating the one or more tension members. The jacket defines a traction surface configured to interface with a traction sheave of the elevator system, a back surface opposite the traction surface, and two edge surfaces extending between the traction surface and the back surface. The traction surface includes a convex shaped segment extending at least partially across the traction surface between the two edge surfaces.
Jacketed wire rope
A wire rope has a lubricated core, an inner jacket in contact with the core, and outer strands wrapped around the inner jacket. An outer jacket surrounds the outer strands and contacts the inner jacket to form an integrated jacket. A method of forming an integrated jacket for a wire rope in which an inner jacket is cold applied and an outer jacket is applied by application of molten material to the inner jacket.
CABLE AND MEDICAL HOLLOW TUBE
A cable includes a sheath, and a coating film covering a circumference of the sheath. The coating film adheres to the sheath. The static friction coefficient of a surface of the coating film is smaller than the static friction coefficient of a surface of the sheath. The adhesion strength between the sheath and the coating film is 0.30 MPa or more.
