ONLINE HELIX ADJUSTMENT TO CONTROL CONNECTOR LOCATION ON PRECONNECTORIZED TAPERED ASSEMBLIES
Embodiments of the disclosure relate to a method of preparing a bundled cable. In the method, a plurality of subunits is wound around a central member in one or more layers of subunits to form the bundled cable. For a section of the central member, each layer of subunits has a pitch over which a subunit of the layer of subunits makes one revolution around the section of the central member and a length of the subunit required to make the one revolution. The subunits are configured to have a nominal helical length equal to the ratio of a nominal length to a nominal pitch. Further, in the method, a measurement of the bundled cable is monitored, and a winding rate of the plurality of subunits is adjusted based on the measurement in order to account for deviations from the nominal helical length.
Method and Apparatus for Producing a Synthetic Tensile Member with a Precise Length and Enhanced Stability
A method for producing a synthetic tensile member having a precisely known and stable length. The invention also comprises equipment configured to carry out the method. A tensile member is prepared by attaching terminations to an assembly of synthetic filaments. The tensile member is then attached to a loading apparatus that subjects the tensile member to a pre-defined loading process. The tensile member is thereby conditioned to a stable length. The length is then measured and a length adjusting component is incorporated into the tensile member to create a precise and stabilized length that is configured for the tensile member's particular application.

Steel cord with reduced residual torsions
A steel cord for reinforcing a breaker or belt ply in a rubber tire having a core group and a sheath group. The core group consists of two to four core steel filaments with a first diameter dc and the sheath group consists of one to six sheath steel filaments with a second diameter ds. The ratio dc/ds of the first diameter dc to the second diameter ds ranges from 1.10 to 1.70. The two core steel filaments are untwisted or have a twisting step greater than 300 mm. The sheath group is twisted around the core group with a cord twisting step in a cord twisting direction. The ratio of the difference in residual torsions of the core group and the sheath group to the difference in saturation level between the core group and the sheath group ranges from 0.10 to 0.65, preferably from 0.10 to 0.60.

Method for producing an underwater pipe
A method for producing a tubular underwater pipe including: assembling a structure of peripheral metal elements (3A, 3B, 3C) wound in an S-Z configuration about a central flexible core (1) as the core is driven in movement along its longitudinal axis; providing an inductive sensor (12) arranged for rotation about the central flexible core (1) in a manner synchronized with the longitudinal movement of the core so that the sensor scans the periphery of the structure opposite and in the immediate proximity of peripheral elements wound about the core and during the assembly step; using the sensor (12) to acquire measurement signals (S) of which the amplitude varies according to whether or not the sensor (12) is located opposite a peripheral element during the rotation of the sensor (12); and using the measurement signals to control the positioning of the assembled peripheral elements.
Braiding, winding or spiralling machine and method for operating same
The invention relates to a method for operating a braiding, winding or spiraling machine for braiding around, wrapping around or spiraling around a strand-like material, in particular a cable, with at least one elongate material strand formed from at least one elongate material fibre, in particular from at least one wire. In the method, a diameter of the strand-like material is measured and a feed rate of the strand-like material and/or a rotational speed at which the at least one elongate material strand moves about the longitudinal axis of the strand-like material is controlled by open-loop or closed-loop control depending on said diameter measured. A predefined degree of coverage of the strand-like material by the at least one elongate material strand can be kept substantially constant by means of an open-loop or closed-loop control of the relative feed rate of the strand-like material depending on the diameter measured.
