INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) REAL-TIME RESPONSE TO DEFINED SYMPTOMS

Systems, computer-implemented methods and/or computer program products that facilitate real-time response to defined symptoms are provided. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises: monitoring, by a system operatively coupled to a processor, a state of an entity; detecting, by the system, defined symptoms of the entity by analyzing the state of the entity; and transmitting, by the system, a signal that causes audio response or a haptic response to be provided to the entity, wherein transmission of the signal that causes the audio response or the haptic response is based on detection of the defined symptoms.

Device for the rehabilitation of movements of the foot

A device (7) for the rehabilitation of the movements of the foot (1) includes a supporting base (8) and a mobile platform (9) with a supporting surface (10) for resting the sole of the foot (1), wherein the mobile platform (9) is secured to the supporting base (8) by a pure rotation movement mechanism (12) with three degrees of freedom of rotary movement independent the one from the other and placed in parallel which allow rotations of the mobile platform around three axes (13, 14, 15) which intersect one another in a single rotation center (P). The supporting surface (10) is turned towards the rotation center (P) and is distant from the rotation center (P) in such a way that the rotation center (P) is positioned in correspondence to the ankle (2) of the foot (1).

Pacemaker for unilateral vocal cord autoparalysis

A method for treating a human subject having unilateral vocal cord paralysis includes sensing electrical activity of a dysfunctional muscle of the subject, generating at least one stimulation parameter, using a processor, based on the sensed electrical activity, and stimulating the dysfunctional muscle, using a stimulating electrode, based on the at least one stimulation parameter. A stimulation system is also provided.

Diagnosis of brain and spinal cord injury by bulbocavernosus reflex measurement

A system and method is disclosed for measuring muscle reflexes (e.g., a bulbocavernosus reflex) as a tool for identifying/diagnosing dysfunctions (e.g., spinal cord abnormalities, bladder voiding dysfunction, and sexual organ dysfunction) non-invasively by using mechanical stimulation. The system and method includes a probe having a predetermined patient contacting portion, wherein when the contacting portion is moved into contact with a particular area of the patient (e.g., the patient's genitals), the contact induces a muscle reflex. The probe detects the pressure resulting from the contacting portion being abruptly and forcibly brought into contact with the particular area. Such detection is used to electronically initiate capture of electrical responses from a plurality of electrodes placed on the patient's skin in proximity to the particular area. Such electrical responses are processed to determine characteristics of the patient's reflexes of one or more muscles adjacent to the electrodes.

Method and apparatus for recognizing gait task

Methods and apparatuses for recognizing a gait task, that may detect a gait pattern of a user based on sensed data, generate a gait feature of the gait pattern based on similarities between the gait pattern and similar gait data extracted from each of a plurality of databases, and estimate a gait task corresponding to the gait pattern by applying the gait feature to a desired learning model, may be provided.

Aid device for the movement and/or rehabilitation of one or more fingers of a hand

An aid device for the movement and rehabilitation hand fingers includes a exoskeleton, an articulated glove or a wearable mechanism configured to be positioned on the back of at least one finger and to be mechanically constrained to the finger, and a motorized system exerting a movement or a change in the configuration of the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton includes a rigid elements arranged on a row one behind the other along a longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal extension of the finger and articulated with each other to make a modular underactuated structure and obtain maximum shape and kinematic adaptability to the fingers, particularly to follow the extension and flexing movement of the fingers. The motorized system includes pulling and/or pushing elements that act on one or more of the elements of the exoskeleton to produce finger movements and particularly the extension and flexing movements of the fingers.

Power assistive device for hand rehabilitation and a method of using the same

A power assistive device for hand rehabilitation that provides training of a combined movement of finger flexion-extension and forearm supination-pronation to a user. The power assistive device includes a hand brace and a base. The hand brace includes finger assemblies that adjustably connect to a platform, actuators that connect to the finger assemblies, and strain gauge sensors that connect to the finger assemblies and detect force signals generated by movement of the finger assemblies. The base removably connects to the hand brace and includes a forearm support, a C-shaped ring that includes C-shaped tracks formed along an inner circumferential surface of the C-shaped ring, a rotatable platform that moves along the C-shaped tracks, a mounting platform that connects to the rotatable platform, and an electromyography (EMG) sensor that attaches to the forearm of the user and senses EMG signals generated by movement of the hand of the user.

Massage glove and vehicle-mounted massage device

A massage glove and a vehicle-mounted massage device are provided. The massage glove includes a glove body, at least one acupuncture point massager and a controller. The acupuncture point massager is arranged on the glove body at a position corresponding to an acupuncture point on a hand. The acupuncture point massager is configured to massage the acupuncture point so as to relieve a physical fatigue of a user. The controller is configured to output a control signal to the acupuncture point massager, so as to enable the acupuncture point massager in accordance with the control signal.

A rise action assistance device according to an aspect of the present disclosure is provided with: a myoelectric potential acquirer that acquires a myoelectric value of a sitting user's tibialis anterior muscle, and a myoelectric value of the sitting user's vastus lateralis muscle or a myoelectric value of the sitting user's vastus medialis muscle; an angle acquirer that acquires a bend angle of the sitting user's upper body; a detector circuit that detects a start of a rise action by the user, based on the myoelectric value of the user's tibialis anterior muscle, the myoelectric value of the user's vastus lateralis muscle or the myoelectric value of the user's vastus medialis muscle, and the bend angle of the user's upper body; and an assistor that starts assistance of the rise action after the start of the rise action is detected.

MANAGEMENT OF WIRELESS TRANSMISSION RATE OF CONTROL SIGNALS FOR POWER ASSISTIVE DEVICES

A system and method for transmission of a signal for a powered assistive device has a sensor node with a wireless transmitter adapted for digitally transmitting a transmitted signal, the sensor node adapted for receiving and monitoring a sensor signal from a sensor attached to a user, and a master node with a controller and a wireless receiver for receiving the transmitted signal from the wireless transmitter. The master node processes the transmitted signal and communicates a control signal to the powered assistive device. The wireless transmitter transmits the transmitted signal at a first rate when the wireless transmitter adapted to transmit the transmitted signal at a first rate when the sensor signal is indicative of the rest state and to transmit the transmitted signal at a second rate when the sensor signal is indicative of the active state, the second rate being greater than the first rate.
