Process and device for splitting a tape
A process and a splitter for splitting a tape of a uniaxially oriented material. The tape is passed in a process direction over a splitting profile having a row of parallel teeth with a cutting edge extending in the process direction. The tape is split to form a tape comprising a plurality of parallel strips interconnected by fibrils. The split tape can for example be used for the production of high tensile ropes.
Synthetic fiber rope
A synthetic fiber rope comprising:—a core, said core being a laid or braided synthetic fiber strand,—a polymer layer, said polymer layer covering said core,—a first layer, said first layer having at least six first synthetic fiber strands laid in a first direction surround said polymer layer, and—a second layer, said second layer having at least twelve second synthetic fiber strands laid in a second direction surround said first layer.
Synthetic fiber rope

SMALL DIAMETER FIBER BRAID WITH CENTRAL CORE MEMBER
A cord comprises a braided sheath of strands having an outer surface, an inner surface, and a central hollow portion defined by the inner surface and having a volume and a core within the central hollow portion of the tubular braided sheath, such that when the cord is in a relaxed state the tubular braided sheath has a cylindrical shape and a relaxed volume of the central hollow portion wherein the core does not fill the relaxed volume of the central hollow portion of the tubular braided sheath; when the cord is in a longitudinal tensioned state, the tubular braided sheath elongates under the longitudinal tension such that a tensioned volume of at least a part of the central hollow portion of the tubular braided sheath is less than the relaxed volume; and the inner surface of the tubular braided sheath of tensioned volume contacts and cinches a surface of the core.
Underwater mooring rope
The present invention relates to a mooring rope for use in subsea mooring, or a substantially synthetic rope thereof, said synthetic rope including a rope core and a layered shell arranged around the rope core, said the shell having a braided outer shell layer. The shell includes sub-surface buoyancy elements, suitable for use in a subsea environment, extending in radial direction between the rope core and the outer shell.
Elastically deformable string
A elastically deformable string includes an outer layer and a core material placed inside the outer layer, wherein the outer layer has knob parts that are constituted by loosely woven outer layer yarns and elastically deformable, and link parts that are constituted by densely woven outer layer yarns and have a smaller diameter than the knob parts, wherein the loosely woven outer layer yarns are woven more loosely than are the densely woven outer layer using same yarns, and the core material is constituted by a stretchable string and placed inside the knob parts in a slackened and/or meandering state. The elastically deformable string is suitable for shoes, for example, as a shoelace which does not require knots.
COMPOSITE MATERIALS PROMOTING THE CATCHMENT AND ATTACHMENT OF SEAWEED HOLDFASTS
Some aspects of the disclosure relate to composite materials and cultivation systems with particular utility for use in aquaculture, for example cultivating various species of seaweed. The systems comprise at least one highly tortuous and often micro-fibrous material and at least one material having low tortuosity. These systems may be configured in a variety of shapes and associated with a number of different structures. Some of these composite materials and cultivation systems may be used in both direct and indirect seeding of macroalgae plants such as seaweed.
Renewable natural fiber fishing line
The disclosure provides embodiments of a fishing line that includes renewable natural fibers, and a renewable natural coating. Some of the embodiments of the disclosed fishing line include, for example, a single strand line, or a braided or plaited line made from multiple threads, strands or yarns. Other embodiments of the disclosed fishing line are degradable over a predetermined timeline. These embodiments are preferred because of the low environmental impact of the disclosed fishing lines.
ULTRA HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYETHYLENE MULTIFILAMENT YARN
Multifilament yarn containing n filaments are provided, wherein the filaments are obtained by spinning an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), said yarn having a tenacity (Ten) as expressed in cN/dtex of Ten(cN/dtex)=f×n.sup.−0.05×dpf .sup.−0.15, wherein Ten is at least 39 cN/dtex, n is at least 25, f is a factor of at least 58 and dpf is the dtex per filament.
Rope made of textile fiber material
The invention relates to a rope made of a textile fibre material for applications in which a diagonal pull may occur, characterized in that the rope is a core/sheath rope the core (1) of which and the sheath of which are composed essentially of a textile fibre material the core (1) of which is stranded and which exhibits a force-fitting winding with a tensile element (2, 2′, 2″) between the core (1) and the sheath.
