FLEXIBLE, ARC RESISTANT, FLUID REPELLANT, HIGH TEMPERATURE AND ABRASION RESISTANT, CIRCUMFERENTIALLY CONTINUOUS, SEAMLESS TEXTILE SLEEVE AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTION THEREOF
A textile sleeve having a seamless, circumferentially continuous wall including a textile layer formed of yarns interlaced with one another. The textile layer having an outer surface and an opposite inner surface bounding an enclosed cavity extending lengthwise along a central longitudinal axis between opposite open ends. At least some of the yarns include multifilaments resistant to heat and monofilaments resistant to heat, and a silicone-based coating adhered to the outer surface.
SELF-CLEANING FILTER
A self-cleaning filtration media for use in hydrocarbon fluid filtration applications has a first layer on an upstream side and a second layer on downstream side of the self-cleaning filtration media. The first layer is composed of polyethersulfone nanofibers having a diameter of 50-1000 nm (0.05-1 micron) and a basis weight of at least 1 gsm. The second layer is a nonwoven substrate suitable for filtration applications. The self-cleaning filtration media exhibits a dust holding capacity of at least 6 mg/cm.sup.2 and a filtration efficiency of greater than 90% for 4 micron particles when the self-cleaning filtration media is tested according to ISO 19438 for fuel filtration and according to ISO 4548-12 for oil filtration. When the second layer includes glass fibers, the self-cleaning filtration media has a dust holding capacity of at least 10 mg/cm.sup.2 and a filtration efficiency of greater than 99% for 4 micron particles when the self-cleaning filtration media is tested according to ISO 19438 for fuel filtration and according to ISO 4548-12 for oil filtration. The self-cleaning filtration media also has a fuel-water separation efficiency of at least 99% when a flat sheet is tested according to ISO 16332; and a lifetime of at least 90 minutes when tested with fuel and oil according to ISO 19438 and ISO 4548-12 using Medium Test Dust and a pressure drop of 70 kPa.
Fabrics containing expanded polytetrafluoroethylene fibers
Woven and knit fabrics containing expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) fibers and at least one other fiber are provided. The ePTFE fiber may be woven or knit as a single, non-twisted fiber, as part of a multifilament fiber, or may be twisted or braided with another fiber. The ePTFE fiber, whether alone or in combination with a weave fiber(s), may be utilized in either the warp and/or the weft direction. The woven and knit fabrics are concurrently breathable, lightweight, durable, drapable, and fast drying. The ePTFE fibers have a substantially rectangular configuration. In some embodiments, the woven or knit fabric is flame resistant. In addition, the woven and knit fabrics are quiet, soft, and drapable. Treatments may be provided to the surface of the ePTFE fiber and/or the fabrics to impart one or more desired functionality, such as, for example, oleophobicity, anti-microbial, contamination resistance, or UV stability.
GUIDING RESISTANT FORMING FABRIC WITH BALANCED TWILL MACHINE SIDE LAYER
A forming fabric for a papermaking machine woven according to a repeating fabric weave pattern is provided. The fabric includes a PS layer having a PS surface, with the PS layer including PS warps and PS wefts interwoven in a first repeating pattern, and a MS layer having a MS surface, with the MS layer including interwoven MS warps and MS wefts. A plurality of pairs of binder weft yarns is provided, with each of the pairs of binder weft yarns comprising first and second binder weft yarns that are interwoven according to a binder weft pattern with the PS warps and the MS warps to bind the PS and MS layers together in the composite forming fabric, and each interchanges between the layers at exchange points. In each pattern repeat of the fabric weave pattern, each of the MS warps forms one or more MS warp knuckles over single ones of the MS wefts, the MS warp knuckles of the MS warps are arranged in a broken twill having an offset mirror symmetric arrangement, and a direction of the broken twill reverses after an equal number of MS warp knuckles.
PROTECTIVE WOVEN FABRIC AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SAME
A protective woven fabric of the present invention includes super fiber yarns. The warp of the woven fabric is a covered yarn (1, 4, 5) composed of two or more twisted inorganic filament yarns as core yarns (2a, 2b) and one or more super fiber yarns (3, 3a, 3b, 3c) as covering yarns that are wound and twisted around the core yarns (2a, 2b), and a weft thereof is a super fiber yarn. Preferably, the covered yarn is a W covered yarn in which a twist coefficient K of the covering yarns with respect to the core yarns is 2000 to 30000. Due to this, it is possible to provide a protective woven fabric that, even when the warp and the weft is squeezed or rubbed by the reed, heddles, etc., of a loom, has few defects such as fluff or fiber aggregates and which has a satisfactory weaving pattern while retaining a high protective function. A force required to cut this woven fabric is 50 N or more, preferably 60 N or more, as measured through a cutting test in accordance with JIS-T8052, even when the fabric is a monolayer woven fabric.
