An applicator or applicator system used for handling samples in an analytical laboratory setting. In particular, the invention the applicator or applicator system is capable of capping an analytical sample tube by applying a capping material to an opening of an analytical sample vessel, the applicator or applicator system including g a dispenser configured to dispense a substantially continuous length of a capping material, such that a region of the substantially continuous length of capping material is located on or about an opening of an analytical sample vessel held in a predetermined orientation.

A platelet incubator usable as a lid for a refrigerated container includes a heating plate and a transparent cover. The heating plate has an aluminum top plate, an aluminum middle plate with an opening into which a silicon mat heater is placed, and a 5052 aluminum alloy bottom plate, with an aperture through which the wires providing electrical energy to the silicon mat heater are placed. The temperature is continuously monitored, and a log is kept for printout, allowing the platelet incubator to meet relevant compliance requirements. An alarm is activated if the temperature of the platelets exceeds twenty-three degrees Celsius, or falls under twenty-one degrees Celsius.

An arrangement includes a housing and a flexible container. A combination includes: a holding structure including receptacles which are arranged in a regular arrangement and are formed by peripherally formed side walls; containers received in the receptacles, the containers having a basic body which, at an upper end, merges into a shoulder portion which is adjoined by a narrowed neck portion with a widened upper edge with an opening; holding projections provided at lower ends of the receptacles and configured to hold the containers in the receptacles, the holding projections at the lower ends protruding radially inwards into the receptacles, the containers being supported directly on the holding projections; and centering elements provided above the holding projections and configured to center the containers in the receptacles. The centering elements have a beveled configuration and protruding into the receptacles in order to reduce a width of the receptacles at the lower ends thereof in a funnel shape.

An apparatus and method for holding a container comprising of a carriage and timing mechanism. The apparatus is comprised of a lever with at least two positions relative to the carriage, a timer, and a timer reset mechanism such that when the lever is in the first position, the timer will start counting time. When the lever is moved to the second position, the timer reset mechanism will modify the timer such as by resetting the amount of time that has been counted. The user thus knows how much time has passed since the user last changed the position of the lever.

A cooling or heating device for cooling and/or heating fluids includes a housing and a plurality of cooling plates. The cooling plates are arranged inside the housing, and the cooling plates each comprise at least one cooling channel for guiding a cooling or heating medium through the cooling plates. A container support surface is provided for arranging at least one first container containing a fluid to be heated or cooled inside the housing, and there is a first air blower in the housing for blowing air onto the cooling plates and/or into spaces between the cooling plates.
