A spacer fabric having removable yarns is provided. The spacer fabric includes a first fabric layer, a second fabric layer, and a middle fabric layer. The first fabric layer is formed of general-purpose yarns and the removable yarns wherein the general-purpose yarns and the removable yarns are arranged to a weft-knitted loop construction according to a predetermined pattern The middle fabric layer is formed of wave-like fibers interlocked with the first fabric layer and the second fabric layer. The predetermined pattern appears on the first fabric layer after the removable yarns are removed.

Described are uppers for a sports shoe with flat weft-knitted knitwear. The flat weft-knitted knitwear forms a top portion and a bottom portion of the upper. The top portion is formed as tube weft-knitted knitwear such that it is configured to surround a part of a shank of a wearer of the sports shoe when worn. The bottom portion is configured to cover at least a part of a foot of the wearer of the sports shoe when worn.

An article of footwear is configured to be worn so as to at least partially cover a wearer's foot. The footwear includes at least one optical fiber on an internal surface of the footwear. The at least one optical fiber is configured to project radiation having a therapeutic wavelength through the at least one optical fiber and toward at least one of the wearer's foot, ankle or leg when the footwear is being worn so as to at least partially cover the wearer's foot.

An article of footwear may include a knitted component that at least partially forms an upper. The knitted component may include a first knit layer and a second knit layer, the first knit layer being separable from the second knit layer such that a pocket is located between the first knit layer and the second knit layer. A cable may be located at least partially within the channel. A cable guide may additionally be located at least partially within the channel, where the cable guide includes at least one curved surface for contacting the cable. The cable may extend around the at least one curved surface such that the cable changes directions within the channel.

A knitted component may form at least a portion of an upper for the article of footwear. The knitted component may include at least one tubular structure that has a first knit layer and a second knit layer, the first knit layer and the second knit layer being separable such that a channel is located between the first knit layer and the second knit layer. A cable may be located at least partially within the channel of the at least one tubular structure, where the cable extends continuously from a biteline of the article of footwear on a lateral side of the upper, through a throat area of the upper, and to the biteline on a medial side of the upper.

Described are shoes, particularly a sports shoe, having an upper, and at least one of an outer sole and a midsole connected to the upper. At least one of the outer sole and the midsole is formed of knitwear. As examples, the upper is also formed of knitwear. In the examples, the knitwear in an area of outer sole and/or the midsole and the knitwear in an area of the upper are formed as one-piece knitwear.

Described are shoes, particularly a sports shoe, having an upper and at least one of an outer sole and a midsole connected to the upper. As examples, the outer sole is knitted in a unitary fashion with the upper. As further examples, an insert is positioned within the one-piece knitwear, wherein the insert comprises a profile that increases traction of the outer sole.

A knitted component having a first region located adjacent to a perimeter edge of the article, where the first region of the knitted component includes an inner surface and an outer surface. The outer surface may include a fused area formed with a thermoformed thermoplastic material included with a first yarn. The inner surface may be at least partially formed with the second yarn and may substantially exclude the thermoplastic material.

An article of footwear is configured to be worn so as to at least partially cover a wearer's foot. The footwear includes at least one optical fiber on an internal surface of the footwear. An upper for an article of footwear may include a knitted component having a first region located adjacent to an outer edge of the upper, where the first region of the knitted component includes an inner surface and an outer surface. The outer surface may include a fused area formed with a thermoformed thermoplastic material included with a first yarn. The inner surface may be at least partially formed with the second yarn and may substantially exclude the thermoplastic material.
