SEPARATION OF FIBERS

There is provided a method for separation of fibers in for instance recycled textile, starting with a mixture comprising cellulose fibers and non-cellulose fibers and then reducing the cellulose chain length of the cellulose fibers so that the limiting viscosity number determined according to ISO 5351 is in the interval 200-900 ml/g, mechanically breaking agglomerates of fibers into smaller pieces, adjusting the concentration of fibers to 0.1-4 wt %, and subjecting the mixture to flotation to remove the non-cellulose fibers. Non-cellulosic fibers such as synthetic fibers can be removed very specifically without or essentially without removing cellulose fibers in the mixture. This gives a very high degree of removal and simultaneously the yield is kept high because no or only few cellulose fibers are removed.

Waste processing

The present invention relates generally to the field of waste processing. The method comprises separating waste into at least two parts, comprising: (i) mainly food waste (fines) and (ii) mainly paper and other recyclable material (overs). The overs are pulped and washed to obtain a cellulose-rich biomass and the fines are optionally processed separately to recover a cellulose-rich biomass and the cellulose-rich biomass from both the fines and the overs may be combined.

Method and system for recovering pulp fibers from used absorbent articles

Provided is a method that, when pulp fibers are recovered from used absorbent articles that have been put into collection bags, makes it possible to safely and sanitarily crush the used absorbent articles while suppressing costs. A method for recovering pulp fibers from used absorbent articles, the method comprising: a crushing step (S12) in which collection bags (A) in which used absorbent articles have been sealed are put into a container (65), the collection bags in the container are transferred to a crushing device (12) that communicates with the container, and, bag by bag, the crushing device crushes the used absorbent articles in the collections bags in a deactivating aqueous solution; and a separation step (S13) in which the pulp fibers, a highly water-absorbent polymer, and the deactivating aqueous solution are separated from the crushed product and deactivating aqueous solution obtained in the crushing step.

A method for treating process material using a plurality of autoclaves. The method includes: introducing steam into a hollow interior of a first autoclave; increasing the temperature within the hollow interior of the first autoclave by adding heat to the hollow interior of the first autoclave using an indirect heat source; reducing the temperature and pressure within the hollow interior of the first autoclave by flashing a portion of the steam within the hollow interior of the first autoclave to a second autoclave; increasing the temperature within the hollow interior of the first autoclave by continuing to add heat to the hollow interior of first autoclave using the indirect heat source; and reducing a moisture content of a process material in the hollow interior of the first autoclave to a predetermined value by venting a remaining portion of the steam from the first autoclave into a third autoclave.

CONTINUOUS PROCESS FOR TREATING A LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS

It is disclosed a continuous process for soaking a ligno-cellulosic biomass stream in an extraction solution comprising water and dissolved water soluble species derived from a previously treated ligno-cellulosic biomass. In the process, water insoluble contaminants are separated according to their apparent mass densities. The ligno-cellulosic biomass stream may be further subjected to a second optional soaking step in a counter flow configuration. The disclosed process is useful to remove non-ligno-cellulosic water soluble compounds from the ligno-cellulosic biomass with a low consumption of water.

A process for manufacturing a web material is disclosed. The process generally provides the steps of: a. providing a pulp material comprising fibers and vessels; b. separating said vessels from said fibers in said pulp material to form a slurry having at least about 7 percent less vessels per meter than said pulp material; and c. processing said slurry to form said web material.

METHOD AND PLANT FOR PRE-TREATING BIOMASSES

A method is provided for pre-treating biomasses, more particularly, for pre-treating biomasses intended for a biorefinery or similar facility for producing biofuels. The method comprises the steps of shredding the biomasses, removing foreign bodies contained in the biomasses upstream of the step of shredding, and soaking the biomasses by immersing the biomasses in water upstream or downstream of the shredding step. A plant for pre-treating biomasses is also provided. The plant comprises a shredding station for shredding biomasses, a station for removing foreign bodies from the biomasses upstream of the shredding station, and a soaking station for soaking the biomasses upstream or downstream of the shredding station.

Method for separating fibers

A method for separating fibers using a container, a vacuum pump which is connected to the container volume via a vacuum valve, and a ventilation line with a cross-sectional opening and a valve. The valve can be switched between a closed and open state in a time domain of 19-41 ms and from the open state into the closed state in a time domain of 20 to 45 ms. The method has the steps of filling the container with water and fiber composite, closing the container, mixing the water and the fiber composite using mechanical energy, by stirring, generating kinetic energy in the fiber composite by lowering the container internal pressure to a value between −700 to −950 hPa, and equalizing the pressure in the container to generate cavitation in the fiber composite. The pressure equalization taking place within at least onetime domain of 0.001-1 s.

Method for recycling baled waste material

A method to facilitate recycling waste material, including waste paper and organic material, comprises the steps of receiving a plurality of plastic-wrapped compressed bales of the waste material at a waste material recycling location from a remote baling location, thereafter introducing the plurality of plastic-wrapped compressed bales into a re-pulping device at the waste material recycling location to form a treated waste material including substantially re-pulped waste paper, and thereafter discharging the treated waste material from the re-pulping device.
