Devices and Methods for Feeding or Medicating Infants
A method of training an infant to breastfeed using a feeding accessory or tool for administering food or medication to neonatal infants, utilizes a storage part and a spoon part. The latter has upstanding side flanges to direct food or medications along a channel between the flanges. The spoon part has an end flange with a central depression that can complement an infant's tongue and lips, to simplify administration of the food or medications, as the case may be. Improved transfer from the storage part to the infant's mouth is thereby achievable. The device can be inexpensively fabricated using simple mold cavities for plastic articles such as the present tool.
Feeding attachments, feeding cup and methods of use
The invention relates to a feeding attachment for a feeding cup for feeding a patient with feeding difficulties. The feeding cup including a cup body for containing thickened liquid food a wall, and an exit channel. The feeding attachment includes an attachment means for removably attaching to the exit channel and a body for receipt of the thickened liquid food, via the exit channel. A control means, for control of the thickened liquid food from the exit channel is also included. In this way thickened liquid food may enter the body of the feeding attachment from the exit channel, as controlled by the control means, and the patient may take the thickened liquid food from the body of the feeding attachment without hyperextension of the neck. The invention also relates to the cup and feeding attachment together and methods of use.
DISPENSING AND MIXING DEVICE
A dispensing and mixing device including at least a functional portion, a handle that defines a cavity containing a substance adapted to be administered by the dispensing and mixing device by the opening of a flap, wherein the handle includes a grooved portion and a lid adapted to overlap and engage mechanically with each other to operatively define the closed cavity, and moreover, the flap is elastically deformable and adapted to alternately open the cavity when it is urged and to close the cavity when it is not urged.
