Methods and systems are described for a medication container that may be locked using a locking mechanism. In one exemplary method, a request from a user may be received by a medication provider for a medication. The medication may be placed in a medication container with a locking mechanism that is operable to lock and unlock the medication container. The medication container may be locked using the locking mechanism. The locked medication container with the medication within may be provided to the user. Subsequent to providing the locked medication container to the user, a request may be received from the user to access the medication in the medication container. A credential may be sent to the user that is usable, via the locking mechanism, to unlock the medication container. The user may then input the credential into the locking mechanism to unlock the medication container and access the medication therein.

The patient is forced through an interactive session periodically with a master system, via a communicative intermediary, in order to obtain a valid passcode for each batch of medications. The patient may be assessed during each interaction with the master system. That assessment may include questions about status codes displayed on each medication container. These status codes may encode detail about the patient's pattern of accessing medication. A rate of medication usage can also be deduced from the rate at which the patient contacts the master system. After patient assessment, the master system may elect to not provide the patient with an access code, such as if the assessment indicates overuse of the medication.

To be able to detect seal breakage of a container portion for containing an article by a simpler scheme, there is provided a signal processing device including: a processor that executes a program; and a memory that stores the program for causing the processor to function as a detection unit that transmits a signal to one or more signal lines formed of a breakable material in such a manner that the signal passes through regions corresponding to one or more respective container portions of a package for containing articles, and detects seal breakage of each container portion on the basis of whether the transmitted signal returns via each region.

A wearable computing device for monitoring and facilitating prescription adherence by a patient is provided. The wearable computing device is in communication with an inventory management server. The wearable computing device includes a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to receive a set of prescription plan data including at least a prescription identifier and a prescription rate associated with the prescription identifier. The processor is further configured to determine an inventory level associated with the prescription identifier. The processor is also configured to determine, based at least on the prescription rate, a time value representing a period of time in which a patient is prescribed to take a pharmaceutical associated with the prescription identifier. The processor is additionally configured to present a prescription inventory indicator representing the inventory level. The processor is also configured to present a timer indicator representing the time value.
