PROCESS FOR THE IN-SITU ADJUSTMEN OF ION CONCENTRATIONS DURING THE MANUFACTURING OF WEB MATERIALS
A process for manufacturing a web material is disclosed. The process generally comprises the steps of providing a papermaking machine with a monovalent inorganic ionizable cation species (MIICS) and a divalent inorganic ionizable cation species (DIICS) measuring devices, measuring molar concentrations of MIICS and DIICS in the web material with the MIICS and DIICS measuring devices and calculating a molar ratio of the measured molar concentration of the MIICS to the measured molar concentration of the DIICS, and subsequently determining if the calculated molar ratio is about less than or equal to 10. If the molar ratio is greater than 10, adding an amount of DIICS to the papermaking machine and manufacturing the web material with the papermaking machine with the added amount of DIICS.
WEIGHTED MEDIAN METHOD FOR PST CONTROL SIGNAL DETERMINATION
A controller for controlling a slurry flowing from incoming piping and entering hydrocyclones arranged in a battery configuration, featuring a signal processor that receives signaling containing information about respective individual cyclone control signaling x(i) for each individual cyclone being evaluated and controlled, median control signaling {tilde over (x)} of all of the respective individual cyclone control signaling x(i), a scale factor A.sub.i and a number N of the individual cyclones being evaluated and controlled; and determine/provides primary control signaling C containing information to control the slurry flowing from the incoming piping and entering the hydrocyclones arranged in the battery configuration by taking the median control signaling {tilde over (x)} and adding a correction factor, where the correction factor is determined by taking a sum of a respective difference of each of the respective individual cyclone control signaling x(i) and the median control signaling {tilde over (x)}, applying the scaling factor A.sub.i to each respective difference, and normalizing the sum by the number N of the individual cyclones being evaluated and controlled, based upon the signaling received.
Method for engineering fibers to improve paper production
A method for treating cellulosic fibers to improve paper, board and tissue quality; the method involves splitting fibers from feed pulp into an original portion containing original fibers and a refineable portion containing original fibers. The refinable portion is refined to create a refined portion containing refined fibers. Varying amounts of the original unrefined fibers and refined fibers are blended together to form a recombined slurry that is processed by a paper machine into an optimized paper product. A master control system and fiber measurement system are integrated with the overall system to regulate all processing.
FIBER PROCESSING DEVICE, FIBROUS FEEDSTOCK RECYCLING DEVICE, AND CONTROL METHOD OF A FIBER PROCESSING DEVICE
Variation in the amount of material that is dispersed when material containing fiber is discharged by a sieve is suppressed. A fiber processing device has a drum that screens defibrated material containing fiber, a mesh belt that accumulates first screened material discharged from the drum, and a processor that processes the first screened material accumulated on the mesh belt. The drum operates at a first speed during processing by the processor; and when the drum starts from a stationary stop, a startup operation including a state in which the drum operates at a slower speed than the first speed executes for a specific time.
SYSTEM FOR COLLECTING AND DILUTING PULP FOR ANALYSIS
A system and process for continuously extracting and diluting a pulp sample from a pulp production line for the purpose of conducting near real time analysis of pulp fibers while mitigating the loss of production due to outdated sample data and the amount of pulp extracted for analysis but not utilized. The system comprises several inline mixers and pulp and dilution lines configured to successively dilute an initial pulp sample for analysis while collecting waste for re-concentration and re-introduction into the production pulp line.
Systems and methods for advanced optimization of continuous digester operation
A system and method for optimization of a continuous digester operation of a continuous digester are presented. The system includes a tracking module for tracking of process variables in the continuous digester operation and developing non-linear empirical model for one or more quality variables. A soft sensor module is used for deploying a soft sensor based on the non-linear empirical model and for generating soft measurements corresponding to the quality variables at different locations. A constraint management module is used for generating dynamically a set of constraints that are used by a model predictive controller for computing set points for optimization of continuous digester operation.
Method for Monitoring the Quality Properties of a Cellulose Bale in a Bale Line
A method for monitoring the quality characteristics of a pulp bale in a baling line of a pulp machine, wherein cut pulp sheets are stacked to form a pulp bale. Pictures of the pulp bale are taken with a camera system and are evaluated with a computer-implemented computational model for image analysis. Improved availability of the bale line is achieved.
