NOVEL WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER COMPLEXES IN THE FORM OF AN INVERSE EMULSION AND USES THEREOF
The present invention relates to a polymer complex obtained by inverse emulsion polymerization of water-soluble monomers: in the presence of a cationic water-soluble host polymer comprising amine functions.
AN AQUEOUS EMULSION AND METHOD FOR MAKING IT
The invention relates to an aqueous emulsion of a hydrophobic anhydride-based sizing agent, prepared by homogenizing the said anhydride-based sizing agent in an aqueous phase which comprises a stabilizer, which is an anionic lignin-carbohydrate complex, where lignin and carbohydrate are covalently bound with each other. The invention further relates to a use of this anionic lignin-carbohydrate complex as a stabilizer as well as to a method for making an aqueous emulsion of a hydrophobic anhydride-based sizing agent.
STARCH COMPOSITE FOR BINDING FIBERS, FIBER STRUCTURE, AND FIBER STRUCTURE-MANUFACTURING APPARATUS
A starch composite for binding fibers includes starch particles which are first particles and second particles containing a hydrophobic material having an affinity for the starch particles, which are the first particles. The weight-average size of the second particles is less than the weight-average size of the first particles and the outer surfaces of the first particles are covered by the second particles.
METHODS FOR BIOBASED DERIVATIZATION OF CELLULOSIC AND SYNTHETIC MATERIALS AND ARTICLES OBTAINED THEREFROM
The present disclosure relates generally to methods of treating cellulosic or synthetic materials to provide new and/or improved properties, such as water resistance and oil/grease resistance (also referred to as lipophobic and hydrophobic barrier properties), separately or in combination, by using bio-based coatings and/or compositions containing blends of glycerides and/or fatty acid salts, and products obtained by the methods.
Increasing paper strength by surface treatment
This method for treating the surface of paper and/or one of the layers thereof, comprises the following successive steps: i) Supplying an aqueous suspension S of polysaccharide; ii) Supplying an aqueous dispersion D comprising (a) particles of at least one anionic water-swellable polymer P and (b) at least one compound selected from a mineral salt, an organic salt, an organic dispersing polymer and the mixtures thereof; iii) Mixing the suspension S and the dispersion D to obtain a mixture M; iv) Applying the mixture M to the surface of the paper and/or to at least one of the layers thereof.
PAPER COATED WITH A FUNCTIONAL POLYOLEFIN FILM
The present invention relates to an article and a method for its preparation; the article comprises a cured polymeric film superposing paper or paperboard. The polymeric film is derived from a dispersion which comprises: a) a dispersant which is a copolymer with an acid value of 130 or less, comprising structural units of ethylene and a carboxylic acid monomer, wherein the copolymer has a melt flow index in the range of from 50 to 2000 g/10 min at 190° C./2.16 kg; wherein the weight-to-weight ratio of structural units of ethylene to carboxylic acid monomer is in the range of from 95:5 to 70:30; and wherein the dispersant has a concentration in the range of from 9 to 50 weight percent based on the weight of polymer solids in the dispersion; b) a base polymer comprising non-functionalized ethylene-co-alkene copolymers, wherein the weight-to-weight ratio of the structural units of ethylene to alkene is in the range of from 99.8:0.2 to 50:50; and c) a neutralizing agent which is a hard base and excludes an organic base having a boiling point of less than 250° C.; wherein the concentration of the neutralizing agent is sufficient to neutralize at least half of the carboxylic acid groups associated with the dispersion composition.
The article of the present invention is useful as a barrier to a wide range of hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials.
GUM FOR CIGARETTE PAPER, CIGARETTE PAPER AND PROCESS FOR MAKING IT
A gum of vegetable origin for rolling cigarette paper including a solids content, includes a mixture of cannabinoids and edible oil, the edible oil being present in the mixture in a proportion p such that 0%≤p≤80% by weight of the compound. Since cannabinoids are soluble only in oil and the gum is intended to be brought to the mouth because it should be reactivatable by licking once coated, smoked and swallowed, oil is edible.
Biopolymer composition and its use as a powder coating
The present invention concerns a packaging material having a coating made of a biopolymer composition. In addition, the invention concerns a method for providing barrier properties for a packaging material by using the above mention composition. In particular, the present invention concerns coating of a porous material with a composition comprising a biopolymer formed by the reaction product of biodegradable polyester and siloxane precursor.
Method of manufacturing sanitary paper for dog feces and sanitary paper manufactured thereby
A method of manufacturing sanitary paper for handling dog feces is disclosed. The sanitary paper has good water resistance, wet strength, elasticity, and water dispersibility. As a result, the sanitary paper can be used to collect and carry feces and can be disposed of in a toilet. Since the sanitary paper manufactured has water resistance, appropriate wet strength, flexibility, and water dispersibility, the sanitary paper can easily be used to wrap and sanitarily carry dog feces and will not clog of a toilet when the sanitary paper is flushed down a toilet.
Manufacture of absorbent paper with low charge density imidazolinium containing debonder compositions
Absorbent sheet is manufactured utilizing a low charge density debonder composition comprising an imidazolinium surfactant-containing constituent selected from the group consisting of: (i) cationic imidazolinium surfactants with alkylalkenylhydroxy substitution; (ii) zwitterionic imidazolinium surfactants; and (iii) an ion paired surfactant mixture including a zwitterionic imidazolinium surfactant and a cationic surfactant and, in admixture with the imidazolinium surfactant-containing constituent, (iv) a nonionic surfactant.
