There is provided a decorative sheet having high ink adhesion without using an oil-based ink having a high environmental load. The decorative sheet includes: a base paper; a thermoplastic resin layer provided on one surface side of the base paper; an ink layer provided on the thermoplastic resin layer of opposite to the base paper side and containing a water-based ink and at least one of a xylene diamine-based curing agent, a polycarbodiimide-based curing agent, and an aziridine-based curing agent as a curing agent; and a surface protective layer provided on the opposite surface side to the thermoplastic resin layer of the ink layer. The addition amount of the curing agent in the ink layer is preferably 1 part by mass or more and 30 parts by mass or less based on 100 parts by mass of the water-based ink.

The paper web includes a plurality of sections and a plurality of marks, with at least one mark assigned to each of the plurality of sections and each mark associated with a paper rating. At least one of the plurality of marks is read with a mark reading unit. The paper rating associated with the at least one mark read by the reading unit is obtained. At least one operational parameter of the converting line based upon the obtained paper rating is changed. The paper web is converted into a paper product.

The paper strengthener coating device has: a solution supply device configured to supply a solution containing a paper strengthener; an inkjet head having nozzles for ejecting the solution supplied from the solution supply device; and a paper strengthener coating unit configured to apply the solution ejected from the nozzles onto a sheet; the inkjet head preferentially or selectively applying the solution to an edge part of the sheet.

The patterned deposit can include a nanoparticle catalyst that is capable of catalyzing the conversion of a constituent gas component in the mainstream and/or sidestream smoke of the smoking article. The constituent gas component can be carbon monoxide and/or nitric oxide and the catalyst particles can be iron oxide. Also provided is a smoking article comprising a tobacco rod having a wrapper formed around the tobacco rod, the wrapper including a patterned deposit on at least a portion of one surface of the wrapper. A method of making the wrapper and a method of making a smoking article utilizing the wrapper are also provided.
