Composition and method of producing a creping paper and the creping paper thereof

The present disclosure provides for a composition and method of producing a creped paper and the creped paper products made using this method. The method includes treating the surface of a wet fibrous web and/or surface of a Yankee drum dryer or cylinder with compositions containing a combination of a polyaminosilicone/polyaminosilicone block copolymer/surfactant and optionally one or more creping aids.

SOFT HIGH BASIS WEIGHT TISSUE

The present invention provides multi-ply creped tissue products, and in particular embodiments creped wet pressed tissue products, having substantially higher per-ply basis weights, such as from about 20 to about 30 gsm, without the negative effects often associated with higher basis weight. As such, the tissue products are generally soft and flexible, having a softness value (measured as TS7) less than about 12.0 and a Stiffness Index less than about 20. While being soft and flexible, the instant tissue products are durable enough to withstand use, such as having a GMT greater than about 600 g/3″ and a Burst Index greater than about 12.0.

Method for improving fabric release in structured sheet making applications

A method is provided for the improvement of fabric release in applications such as tissue and towel making processes. The method comprises applying a micro-emulsion of hydrophobic agents and surfactants to the surface of a structured fabric used in sheet making applications of a tissue machine.

A method for creping paper includes applying an adhesive composition to an outer surface of a creping cylinder (Yankee cylinder) to form an adhesive coating, contacting paper with the adhesive coating, removing the paper and adhesive coating from the creping cylinder, and determining a quality of the adhesive coating. Determining the quality of the adhesive coating may include measuring a degree of cross-linking of the adhesive polymer, a concentration of the adhesive polymer in the adhesive coating, a water content of the adhesive coating, an ash content of the adhesive coating, or combinations thereof. Determining the quality of the adhesive coating may also include determining a thickness of the adhesive coating by measuring light absorbed by the coating and calculating the thickness using Beer's Law. Systems and apparatuses for determining the quality of the adhesive coating and for creping paper are also disclosed.

QUATERNARY CATIONIC SURFACTANTS AND POLYMERS FOR USE AS RELEASE AND COATING MODIFYING AGENTS IN CREPING AND TISSUE PAPERS

A composition is disclosed that may include an adhesive agent and a release aid. A Yankee dryer coating is also disclosed that may include a release aid. The release aid may include a cationic polymer salt that is a reaction product of a polyamine or a polyalkyleneimine and a substituted alkyl trialkyl quaternary ammonium salt. Also provided are methods of treating and creping paper.

A crepe process includes applying an adhesive composition to a nonwoven web, drying, and creping the nonwoven web on a creping drum. The improvement includes using an adhesive composition that includes an aqueous copolymer dispersion obtained by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture including 65 to 94.5% by weight of vinyl acetate, 5 to 30% by weight of ethylene, (meth)acrylamide, and 0.1 to 4% by weight of an N-methylol functional monomer. The N-methylol functional monomer constitutes from 25 to 85% by weight of the combined amounts of acrylamide and N-methylol functional monomer, which combined amounts constitute from 0.5 to 5% by weight of the monomer mixture. The emulsion polymerization is performed in the presence of 1 to 10% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol, based on the total weight of all monomers used for the polymerization. The adhesive composition does not include alkylphenol ethoxylates, phosphate ester surfactants, or sodium laureth sulfate.

CREPING ADHESIVES AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING AND USING SAME

Creping adhesives and processes for making and using same. In some embodiments, the creping adhesive can include a solvent, a modified polyvinyl alcohol, and a crosslinked resin. The crosslinked resin can include polyamidoamine backbones crosslinked by primary crosslinking moieties and propanediyl moieties, where the primary crosslinking moieties can be derived from a functionally symmetric crosslinker. In other embodiments, the crosslinked resin can include polyamidoamine backbones crosslinked by primary crosslinking moieties and secondary crosslinking moieties, where the primary crosslinking moieties can be derived from a first functionally symmetric crosslinker and the secondary crosslinking moieties can be derived from a second functionally symmetric crosslinker. In other embodiments, the crosslinked resin can include polyamidoamine backbones crosslinked by primary crosslinking moieties, where the primary crosslinking moieties can be derived from a functionally symmetric crosslinker. The modified polyvinyl alcohol can include a carboxylated, a sulfonated, a sulfated, and/or a sulfonated-carboxylated polyvinyl alcohol.
