20170258688 · 2017-09-14 ·

A nasogastric tube comprising at least one main lumen and at least one vacuum lumen comprising at least one suction port for sealingly drawing an inner wall of an esophagus thereagainst, said at least one suction port has a unique concave structure which substantially prevents tissue damage is provided.

FEEDING SET AND ENTERAL FEEDING PUMP ASSEMBLY

In some embodiments, apparatuses and methods are provided herein useful to provide fluid nutrition and hydration. In one illustrative example, a feeding set for use with a peristaltic enteral feeding pump has sections of flexible tubing or conduit, a dispensing control valve that is in fluid communication with the tubing, and a retention disk. In some configurations, the feeding set has as attachment mechanism, which may be formed by one clips or hooks extending from the dispensing control valve and coupling geometry of the retention disk. By some approaches, the clips or hooks and the coupling geometry are configured to attach the feeding set with the pump, such as by attaching the feeding set to an internal panel of the feeding pump. In operation, the feeding set and pump are used to move fluid nutrition and hydration from a container or bag to the patient in a controlled manner.

Catheter with balloon valve

A catheter having a selectively inflatable external balloon and an internal balloon, where the internal balloon is operable as a valve to control fluid flow through a channel.

Systems and methods for dynamic control of enteral feeding according to energy expenditure

A computer-implemented method of adjusting enteral feeding of a patient by an enteral feeding controller, comprising: computing an estimate of energy expenditure of the patient based on oxygen measurements and carbon dioxide measurements of the patient, computing a target composition and target feeding rate for the enteral feeding according to the computed estimate of energy expenditure, when the target composition and target feeding rate differ from a current enteral feeding composition and feeding rate by a requirement, generating instructions for adjustment, by an enteral feeding controller, of the rate of delivery of the enteral feeding according to the target composition, wherein the receiving the oxygen measurement, receiving the carbon dioxide measurement, and computing the estimate of energy expenditure are performing iteratively for every first time interval, and the generating instructions for adjustment are performed for a second time interval that is larger than the first time interval.

MEDICAL PUMP

A medical pump, comprising: a fluid housing having a plurality of intake openings, sealed by at least one intake valve, and an outlet opening sealed by an outlet valve; a piston which is sealing the fluid housing and connected to a drive mechanism, the drive mechanism pulls the piston to draw fluid from one of the plurality of intake openings and pushes the piston to discharge the fluid into the outlet opening; and a selecting valve enclosing at least two tubes, each providing fluid to one of the plurality of intake openings, wherein the selecting valve closes one of the at least two tubes while opening another of the at least two tubes.

Insertable device to prevent aspiration of stomach contents during ventilation and intubation

A novel nasogastric tube, that when properly inserted within a person, blocks the esophagus of the person to prevent gastric contents from being aspirated. The tube can be left in place during direct langroscopy and the device can include a preferably inflatable balloon for obstructing the person’s esophagus. This balloon can be preferably provided on a slidable tube that allows for head movement/flexion without movement of the balloon placement. The tube can be a dual or single lumen device. With a duel lumen device, a first lumen can be connected to a suction tubing to suction gastric contents from the distal end of the tube, while the other lumen can open up above the cuff to allow for easier ventilation with a bag valve mask/BVM. A novel endotracheal tube and novel indwelling catheter also incorporating a balloon component are also disclosed.

Enteral Feeding System

Enteral adapters disclosed herein allow connection to gastrostomy tubes without leakage and cleanliness issues that accompany conventional connectors. Enteral adapters disclosed herein can comprise valved openings to the fluid conduit, removable or retractable connection elements to facilitate easy and secure connections, and cleaning. Enteral feeding systems and methods are also disclosed herein.

Feeding tube with electromagnetic sensor

There is provided feeding tubes including an electromagnetic sensor including a sensor body comprising a core positioned at a distal end of the sensor lumen, and a wire extending along the length of the feeding tube, wherein an RF induced heating of the feeding tube in an MRI environment is below 5 degrees.

Enteral feeding systems and methods

The present specification is directed to systems, devices, and methods of portable enteral pump systems for feeding and/or flushing an ambulatory patient. Embodiments provide an enteral pumping device that may be loaded by a patient from a front and a top side of the pumping device and is therefore more convenient to use. Further, embodiments incorporate a single rotor pump for dual-use purposes of feeding nutrients and flushing fluids to the patient. A pinch valve is placed between the parallel sides of the two tubes to cut off fluid flow when required. At least one sensor is also placed between the rotor pump and an outlet. The sensors are used to detect occlusions and the type of disposables used, among other purposes.
