20210310161 · 2021-10-07 ·

Provided are a silica glass yarn and a silica glass cloth which have a signal transmission speed that is made stable through stabilization of a characteristic impedance in addition to a low dielectric constant and a low loss. The silica glass yarn has a yarn habit density of 0.10 piece/cm or less of yarn habits each having a bending point with a radius of curvature of 5 mm or less and a bending angle of 120° or less. It is preferred that the silica glass yarn have a tensile strength of 2.0 GPa or more, and silica glass filaments forming the silica glass yarn each have a breaking start strength of 80.0% or more of the tensile strength of the silica glass yarn.

COMPOSITE YARN WITH GLASS CORE
20210238773 · 2021-08-05 ·

A composite yarn. The composite yarn has a glass core having a linear weight ranging between 50 to 400 deniers and composing from 15 to 60% of a total linear weight of the composite yarn. The composite yarn has a sheath surrounding the glass core, where the sheath is constituted at least of fibers of meta-aramid. The sheath constitutes a remainder of the total linear weight of the composite yarn. The composite yarn has a yarn count between 10 tex and 80 tex.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FORMING A COMPOSITE YARN
20210189609 · 2021-06-24 ·

A method and system for forming composite yarns having selected performance characteristics including cut resistance and/or fire/heat resistance. The composite yarn will include a core of one or more filaments and a fiber bundle wrapped about the core and integrated with one or more additional filaments that help bind the fibers about the core. An additional filament or other composite yarn can be plied together therewith to form the finished composite yarn. The core filament(s) will be selected from cut and/or fire/heat resistant materials, while the fibers of the fiber bundle and the additional filament(s) wrapped about the core can be selected from natural or synthetic fibers or filaments having additional desired properties.

Knit tubular protective sleeve and method of construction thereof

A knit sleeve for providing thermal protection about an elongate member contained therein and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes a knit inner wall with opposite edges extending lengthwise between opposite ends and a circumferentially continuous tubular outer wall knit integrally with the inner wall. The outer wall bounds a central cavity that extends lengthwise along a central axis between open opposite ends of the outer wall. The opposite edges of the inner wall are substantially parallel to the central axis and are wrappable toward one another to form the inner wall as being tubular. The circumferentially continuous tubular outer wall is configured to be everted about the wrapped inner wall to circumferentially surround and protect the inner wall from abrasion and provide the sleeve with a dual layer wall.

Glass-fiber-yarn connected body

The glass-fiber-yarn joined body 1 is provided with glass fiber yarns 2, 3, and a connection 5 in which a resin yarn 4 is wound around ends of both of the glass fiber yarns 2, 3, the ends being superimposed with each other. The connection 5 has a width W.sub.1 of 20 to 40 mm. When a connection diameter R as a total of diameters of the respective glass fiber yarns 2, 3 and the thickness of the resin yarn 4 wound around the connection 5 is 500 to 5000 m and a mass of each of the glass fiber yarns 2, 3 is 200 to 6000 tex, a value of a ratio of mass of each of the glass fiber yarns 2, 3 relative to the connection diameter R is in the range of 0.32 to 2.00.
