Apparel and other products incorporating a thermoplastic polymer material
11779071 · 2023-10-10 · ·

A yarn or thread may include a plurality of substantially aligned filaments, with at least ninety-five percent of a material of the filaments being a thermoplastic polymer material. Various woven textiles and knitted textiles may be formed from the yarn or thread. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be thermal bonded to other elements to form seams. A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.

Textile that is Both Soft to Touch and Resistant to Abrasion and Stretching
20210340696 · 2021-11-04 · ·

A woven textile includes, in at least one of the warp or weft directions, non-flocked yarns and flocked yarns. The flocked yarns include a support yarn having a core covered with an adhesive layer. The support yarn has a base diameter. Protruding filaments provide the flocked yarns with an apparent diameter. The non-flocked yarns have a diameter which is smaller than the apparent diameter and larger than the base diameter of the flocked yarns.

Elevator load bearing member including a unidirectional weave
11655120 · 2023-05-23 · ·

An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator load bearing member includes a unidirectional weave of a plurality of load bearing fibers including at least a first material and a second material. A melting point of the first material is higher than a melting point of the second material. The plurality of load bearing fibers are bonded together by at least some of the second material that is at least partially melted. A coating covers the plurality of load bearing fibers.

Heat curable composite textile

A heat curable, circular knitted fabric includes reinforcing and meltable resin fibers that can be cured to form a more rigid material form. In one embodiment, the fabric includes a core spun yarn, wherein the core may be made from glass, carbon, basalt, aramid or metal. The wrap surrounding the core may include resin type fibers such as Poly(p-phenylene sulfide) PPS, Polyetherimide (PEI), Polyether ether ketone (PEEK), Polysulfone (PES), Polyphthalamide (PPA), nylon, polyester, or polypropylene.

ADHESIVE RIBBON YARN

A ribbon yarn having an upper side and a lower side, filaments and at least one binder material, the binder material binding the filaments to one another and the upper side and/or the lower side of the ribbon yarn having a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The filaments of the ribbon yarn can consist only of one material or of different materials and they can be arranged in one layer or in multiple layers. The pressure-sensitive adhesive can be applied on the upper side and/or lower side of the ribbon yarn or can be a constituent of the binder material.

Fusible bicomponent spandex

Included are segmented polyurethane elastic fibers or spandex fibers, capable of bonding to polymer fiber such as nylon or polyamide fibers, in addition to bonding to itself, for apparel textile applications. More particularly the invention relates to bicomponent spandex fibers, with a heat resistant core and a heat sensitive sheath, spun from polymer solutions. The nylon fabrics containing such spandex fibers have enhanced stretch performance and improved surface appearance after heat treatment to activate the fusing and bonding between nylon fibers and spandex fibers.

HYBRID YARN AND DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HYBRID YARN
20220074085 · 2022-03-10 ·

A hybrid yarn, and associated system and method of making, are provided wherein a first continuous yarn is formed as a multi-filament yarn and a second continuous yarn is formed as a crimped yarn consisting of thermoplastic fibers in a parallel thread sheet. The parallel thread sheet has a plurality of crimped continuous threads next to one another in one plane. The continuous threads are formed from as a collection of a plurality of continuous filaments.

TWISTED YARN, OPENED YARN, CARBON FIBER-COVERED TWISTED YARN, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THESE
20210301427 · 2021-09-30 · ·

The present invention relates to twisted yarn obtained by twisting a plurality of carbon fiber resins which are slit from a carbon fiber resin tape in which adhesive, alumina sol, and potassium persulfate permeate between a plurality of the carbon fibers spread flatly. An open yarn is obtained by S-twisting and Z-twisting covering yarn around the periphery of the twisted yarn. A carbon fiber covered twisted yarn is obtained by winding the twisted yarn around the periphery of a core material

Method for manufacturing a three-dimensional structure

Provided is the method for manufacturing a three-dimensional structure with a less amount of internal voids or bubbles, and also to provide a 3D printer filament used for manufacturing such three-dimensional structure. The method for manufacturing a three-dimensional structure, the method comprises melting and depositing a filament using a 3D printer, the filament comprising a commingled yarn that contains a continuous reinforcing fiber (A) and a continuous thermoplastic resin fiber (B), with a dispersity of the continuous reinforcing fiber (A) in the commingled yarn of 60 to 100%.

Electronically functional yarn and textile

A yarn adaptable to incorporation into a textile comprises a core including one or more electrically conductive traces arranged on the core and distributed over at least a portion of the length of the yarn. The yarn also comprises an electrically contactable terminal arranged at a terminus of the one or more conductive traces and a winding wrapped around the core.
