APPAREL AND OTHER PRODUCTS INCORPORATING A THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER MATERIAL
A yarn or thread may include a plurality of substantially aligned filaments, with at least ninety-five percent of a material of the filaments being a thermoplastic polymer material. Various woven textiles and knitted textiles may be formed from the yarn or thread. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be thermal bonded to other elements to form seams. A strand that is at least partially formed from a thermoplastic polymer material may extend through the seam, and the strand may be thermal bonded at the seam. The woven textiles or knitted textiles may be shaped or molded, incorporated into products, and recycled to form other products.
VEHICLE SEAT TRIM COVERS WITH KNITTED ATTACHMENT STRUCTURES FORMED WITH HEAT-ACTIVATED YARNS
A knitted seat trim cover for attachment to a vehicle seat includes a knitted trim panel configured to be installed over at least one foam support member of the vehicle seat and a fastener member integrally knitted in the knitted trim panel. The fastener member is configured to connect the knitted trim panel to the vehicle seat and at least a portion of the fastener member is made of a heat-activated yarn.
Fabric-based items with fusible insulating strands
An item may include fabric or other materials formed from intertwined strands of material. The item may include circuitry that produces signals. The strands of material may include non-conductive strands and conductive strands. The conductive strands may carry the signals produced by the circuitry. Conductive strands may be insulated by insulating strands that have been wrapped around the conductive strands. Insulating strands may include strands of fusible material that softens when heated to the appropriate temperature. Fusible insulating strands may be interspersed with insulating strands of a different material. The fusible insulating strands may be heated such that the fusible material melts and fills gaps between the other insulating strands, thereby forming a watertight covering over the conductive strand. The fusible insulating strands may be used to insulate electrical connections between conductive strands and/or between electronic components and conductive strands.
Textile that is both soft to touch and resistant to abrasion and stretching
A woven textile includes, in at least one of the warp or weft directions, non-flocked yarns and flocked yarns. The flocked yarns include a support yarn having a core covered with an adhesive layer. The support yarn has a base diameter. Protruding filaments provide the flocked yarns with an apparent diameter. The non-flocked yarns have a diameter which is smaller than the apparent diameter and larger than the base diameter of the flocked yarns.
Thermoplastic composite
A method of making a flexible pipe layer, which method comprises: commingling polymer filaments and carbon fibre filaments to form an intimate mixture, forming yarns of the commingled filaments, forming the yarns into a tape, and applying the tape to a pipe body to form a flexible pipe layer.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FORMED ARTICLE
Provided is a method for manufacturing a formed article that excels in shape retainability and appearance, using a sheet that contains a thermoplastic resin fiber and a continuous reinforcing fiber. The method for manufacturing a formed article comprises irradiating laser light onto a sheet having, arranged therein with a certain directionality, yarns that contain a thermoplastic resin fiber and a continuous reinforcing fiber, so as to allow at least a part of the thermoplastic resin fiber to be impregnated into the continuous reinforcing fiber; the laser light being irradiated so as to satisfy at least one of A or B below, over at least 70% or more of the laser irradiation area; A: irradiated in a direction 5 to 85 away from the direction of arrangement of yarns in the in-plane direction of the sheet; and B: irradiated in a direction 30 to 60 away from the direction perpendicular to the sheet plane.
Woven Article for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic and Molded Product Formed Therefrom
A woven article for a carbon fiber reinforced plastic according to the present invention is a woven article of a spun yarn containing: about 10 wt % to about 60 wt % of a carbon fiber staple in which the content of carbon components is equal to or greater than about 97 wt %; and about 40 wt % to about 90 wt % of a thermoplastic resin fiber, wherein the carbon fiber staple is obtained by carbonizing carbon fiber reinforced plastic scrap at a temperature of about 900 to about 1400 C. The woven article for a carbon fiber reinforced plastic includes a carbon fiber staple manufactured from scrap generated during manufacture of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and allows economic recycling of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic scrap without a reduction in mechanical properties. When molded, productivity is high due to a short cycle time, there is almost no orientation, and an excellent flexural modulus is exhibited.
HEAT CURABLE COMPOSITE TEXTILE
A heat curable, circular knitted fabric includes reinforcing and meltable resin fibers that can be cured to form a more rigid material form. In one embodiment, the fabric includes a core spun yarn, wherein the core may be made from glass, carbon, basalt, aramid or metal. The wrap surrounding the core may include resin type fibers such as Poly(p-phenylene sulfide) PPS, Polyetherimide (PEI), Polyether ether ketone (PEEK), Polysulfone (PES), Polyphthalamide (PPA), nylon, polyester, or polypropylene.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING CARBON TOW WIDTH
A technique allowing a portion of carbon fiber tow to maintain a rectangular cross sectional shape or to maintain an imparted desired shape, such as a wider shape with a rectangular cross-sectional profile, through a textile loom is disclosed herein.
TWISTED YARN, OPENED YARN, CARBON FIBER-COVERED TWISTED YARN, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THESE
The present invention relates to twisted yarn (P) obtained by twisting a plurality of carbon fiber resins which are slit from a carbon fiber resin tape (F2), open yarn obtained by S-twisting and Z-twisting covering yarn (C) around the periphery of the twisted yarn (P), carbon fiber covered twisted yarn obtained by winding the twisted yarn around the periphery of a core material, and methods for manufacturing thereof.
