PILL CRUSHING SYSTEM
The presently described technology provides a pill crushing system. The pill crushing system may comprise a tablet crusher, a bowl-like structure, and an elongated cylindrical weighted rod. The tablet crusher may have an open mouth, a lower end of the tablet crusher and a cap. The lower end of the tablet crusher may have a closed base provided with a peripheral thread along surface wall of the closed base. The cap may have a peripheral thread for engagement with the peripheral thread of the tablet crusher. The threaded arrangement for the tablet crusher and the cap are such as to bring the cap close to the closed base of the tablet crusher into engagement with the cap upon turning the cap in one direction, whereby a pill interposed therebetween may be crushed. The bowl-like structure may have smooth surfaces such that a residue after a pill is grounded in the bowl-like structure is less than 2 wt % of the pill. The elongated cylindrical weighted rod may have smooth surfaces at one end.
Medicine cup apparatus with ring attachment
A medicine cup apparatus that includes a cup having a side wall, bottom panel, open top, and an interior for holding a selected medicine. A ring is affixed to the cup that can fit around a user's finger, allowing the user to more easily hold the medicine cup and administer medicine orally. The ring is affixed to the cup bottom panel permanently or removably.
METHOD OF OPERATING AN ENTERAL FEEDING PUMP
A feeding set for use with a peristaltic enteral feeding pump to deliver nutritional liquid fluid to a patient includes a container having nutritional liquid. A conduit assembly includes tubing placeable in fluid communication with the container and adapted for mounting on the enteral feeding pump. The tubing provides a fluid pathway for delivering the nutritional liquid from the container to a patient when the tubing is mounted on the enteral feeding pump. An identification member is mounted on the conduit assembly and has at least one characteristic of a nutritional liquid associated with the feeding set represented by the identification member. The identification member is positioned on the conduit assembly so as to permit automatic identification by the enteral feeding pump of the at least one characteristic of the nutritional liquid upon mounting the conduit assembly on the enteral feeding pump.
Squeezable leak proof feeding bottle
A reusable food pouch having a removably insertable one-way valve is disclosed herein. The one-way valve may be used with the reusable food pouch if food product having a water-like consistency is being stored in the reusable food pouch to prevent spills if the reusable food pouch is inadvertently laid on its side. Conversely, the one-way valve may be removed from the reusable food pouch if the food product has a consistency more like thick oatmeal and/or applesauce to allow for free flow of the food product through a spout of the reusable food pouch.
Fluid level monitoring system
A fluid level monitoring device and a method of use are disclosed for alerting a user that the fluid in a container, such as an intravenous (i.v.) injection or irrigation bag or collection of waste from a human body (catheter) have reached a pre-determined volume.
Patient enteral hydration with cooled fluids
A device and method for enterally hydrating a patient with cooled fluids. The patient may be a paralyzed or limited upper body mobility patient with a functional gastrointestinal system who is nonetheless incapable or not fully capable of drinking unassisted. Here fluids are provided by a suspended container which also has a pouch to admit cooling material such as ice, but to keep the cooling material separate from the fluid. The container may also have optional graduation markings to allow for convenient estimation of fluid use, and an upper open and closeable cap to allow the container to be refilled. The container has a lower fluid conducting tube that terminates in a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece contains a fluid valve formed from at least one slit in an elastic material. Patient mouth force on the valve causes the slit to enlarge, thus enabling cooled fluid to flow into the patient.
Fluid dispenser
Described herein is a dispenser for dispensing fluid that, integrated into one hand piece, comprises a variable volume chamber with a plunger disposed within the chamber and a chamber inlet and outlet. The inlet and outlet communicate directly with a common chamber volume and the plunger translates in a linear direction relative to the chamber along a common longitudinal axis to expel fluid from the chamber (expel stroke) and/or draw fluid into the chamber (drawing stroke). The plunger is linked to a controller, a power source and a motor that drives translation movement of the plunger. The dispenser described herein offers a variety of advantages over the art including accurate dosing without the user having to manually regulate the dose amount—the amount to be dosed is related to the volume of fluid in the chamber which can be pre-set or varied automatically using sensors and controllers.
DISPENSER
A measurable dispenser, comprising a first vessel for containing a substance to be dispensed, a second, measurable, vessel, mounted on the first vessel, a one-way valve whereby fluid from the first vessel can be caused to move into the second vessel and retained therein virtue of the one-way valve, and wherein the second vessel is provided with one or more indicia indicating measured amounts. A child-proof locking mechanism is also disclosed.
Flowable food feeding device
A container for feeding a patient includes a deformable receptacle having a cavity for holding a flowable food product and a rigid cover attachable to the upper end of the deformable receptacle. The rigid cover may have a male feeding tube connector that is uniquely connectable to a female feeding tube connector of a feeding tube or may have a female feeding tube connector that is uniquely connectable to a male feeding tube connector of a syringe. With the male and female feeding tube connectors connected, the deformable receptacle and the feeding tube or syringe are in fluid tight fluid communication to allow the flowable food product to be forced out of the opening of the deformable receptacle and into the feeding tube or syringe when the deformable receptacle is squeezed.
BABY BOTTLE SYSTEM
A baby bottle system including a bottle assembly and a detachable unit. The baby bottle system disclosed herein is configured to enhance a baby's feeding routine, stimulate a baby's cognitive and emotional development, and prevent nipple/bottle confusion.
