SENSOR FOR A DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE
In one aspect the present disclosure relates to a sensor for measuring at least one physical or chemical parameter of a cartridge filled with a liquid substance. In a further aspect the disclosure relates to a drug delivery device equipped with such a sensor, wherein the sensor includes a planar flexible foil having a first section and having a second section separated from the first section, at least one measurement electrode located on the flexible foil, wherein the flexible foil is wrappable into a wrapped configuration in which the foil forms at least a first wrap with an inner diameter that is equal to or larger than an outer diameter of the cartridge, wherein in the wrapped configuration the first section and the second section at least partially overlap, at least one fastener located in one of the first and second section and configured to attach to the other one of the first and second sections for keeping the flexible foil in the wrapped configuration.
Liquid dosing medication dispenser
A liquid medication storage, dispensing and tracking apparatus is provided having an octagonal housing forming seven separable individual containment compartments. Each compartment is adapted to be filled with a liquid medication dosage for subsequent dispensing. An eighth reminder compartment us provided having a form factor similar in shape and including a visual reminder indicia adapted to provide a reminder to refill liquid medication doses. The seven containment compartments and one reminder compartment are removably connected to allow for cleaning and refilling/reuse. The labeled liquid medication dispenser pre-measures dosages, tracks the status of a medication regime and serves as a reminder as to the date and time of a next dose. The instant abstract is neither intended to define the invention disclosed in this specification nor intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.
Method and Apparatus for Self-Sterilizing a Bottle
The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art and provides for an improved method and apparatus for self-sterilizing a bottle. A self-sterilizing bottle comprises a container, a mouthpiece, a collar and a cap. The container has a sidewall and a bottom defining a liquid holding space, with the sidewall forming an open end with a neck. The collar has a first position and a second position and is adapted to fasten to the neck and for removably fastening the mouthpiece to the collar when in the first position. The cap is configured to have an upright position and an inverted position and when in the upright position is adapted to fasten to the collar and cover the mouthpiece when the mouthpiece and cap are attached to the collar and when in the inverted position to rest stably on a surface. Also when in the inverted position, the cap is further adapted to hold a liquid and support the collar above the liquid when the collar is in the second position.
In another embodiment, a method for self-sterilizing a bottle is described wherein the bottle comprises a cap, a collar, a mouthpiece and a container having an open end. The method comprises placing the cap on a support surface in a position to hold a liquid. Then adding a liquid to the cap. Then placing the collar on the cap so that the collar remains above the liquid in the cap. Then placing the mouthpiece within the container. Then placing the open end of the container with the mouthpiece therein on the collar to form a self-sterilizing assembly. Then placing the self-sterilizing assembly in a microwave oven. Then heating the self-sterilizing assembly in a microwave oven for a time sufficient to sterilize the self-sterilizing assembly.
Microsensor-based Breastfeeding Volume Measurement Device
A nipple-shield mounted sensor with associated electronic interface and interconnect for measurement and display of milk flow and volume during breastfeeding. The sensor is mounted in the tip of the nipple-shield in order to minimise intrusion between mother and child. The sensor can be mounted transverse or parallel to the milk flow in the channel depending on the selected sensing technology. The dimensions of the sensor and associated cabling are such that the device does not appear substantially different to a nipple-shield alone, thereby having minimal impact on the feeding session. Microlitre flow levels are measured directly by the sensor in order to relay accurate, real-time information on milk volume back to the feeding mother. The electronics unit amplifies the sensor input and digitally processes the data with software algorithms to determine the fluid volume, and can be directly integrated in the shield or can constitute an external module depending on the nature of the sensing technology integrated in the flow channel.
METERING DEVICE
A metering device for a drinking vessel for dispensing a liquid from the drinking vessel, with a control device which detects and/or controls the delivery of the liquid. Furthermore, the invention relates to a drinking bottle having such a metering device. The drinking bottle is particularly suitable for administering a Levodopa suspension for the high-frequency treatment of idiopathic Parkinson's disease.
Enteral safety system and methods
Enteral safety system (ESS) may include syringe having visual indicator such as barrel with measurement marks of a color. Barrel may allow content viewing. ESS may include hub for connecting syringe to enteral set. Hub may have a visual indicator such as being same color as barrel's marks. Enteral tubing or set may have a visual indicator such as a lengthwise stripe same color as barrel's marks. Enteral tubing may allow content viewing. ESS may include an enteral tubing-feeding tube hub for connecting enteral tubing to a feeding tube. This hub may have visual indicator such as same color as barrel's marks. Feeding tube may have visual indicator such as a lengthwise stripe same color as barrel's marks. Feeding tube may allow content viewing. The syringe, syringe-enteral tubing hub, enteral tubing, enteral tubing-feeding tube hub, and feeding tubing are properly connectable by reference to visual indicators such as color matching.
Devices for transferring fluid to or from a vial
In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor for removing liquid contents from a vial comprises a piercing member and a bag. The bag can be contained within the piercing member such that the bag is introduced to the vial when the vial adaptor is coupled with the vial. In some embodiments, the bag expands within the vial as liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, thereby regulating pressure within the vial. In other embodiments, a vial comprises a bag for regulating pressure within the vial as liquid is removed therefrom. In some embodiments, a vial adaptor is coupled with the vial in order to remove the liquid. In some embodiments, as the liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, the bag expands within the vial, and in other embodiments, the bag contracts within the vial.
Fluid transfer devices and methods of use
Some embodiments disclosed herein related to a device for transferring precise amounts of fluid from at least one source container to at least one target container. In some embodiments, the fluid is first transferred from the source container (e.g., a vial) through a connector to an intermediate measuring container (e.g., a syringe). In some embodiments air can pass through an air inlet and enter the vial to compensate for the volume of fluid withdrawn from the vial. An air check valve or a bag or a filter can prevent the fluid from escaping through the air inlet. The precisely measured amount of fluid can then be transferred from the intermediate measuring container to the target container (e.g., an IV bag). In some embodiments the connector can include a source check valve and a target check valve to direct fluid first from the source container to the intermediate measuring container and then from the intermediate measuring container to the target container. Some embodiments of the device can include a motor and a controller for automatically actuating a plunger of the syringe to transfer the desired amount of fluid.
