WOUND DRESSING
The invention provides a wound dressing, which includes a 1 to 12 mm thick layer of absorbent non-woven fibre material between 150 and 1200 grams per square meter, which layer includes a mixture of viscose fibres and polyester fibres which more viscose than polyester, and of which the fines of the viscose is between 1.5 and 3 dtex and the fines of the polyester is between 2 and 3 dtex.
Thermal Insulation
The present invention relates to inorganic fibres having a composition comprising: 65.7 to 70.8 wt % SiO.sub.2; 27.0 to 34.2 wt % CaO; 0.10 to 2.0 wt % MgO; and optional other components providing the balance up to 100 wt %,
wherein the sum of SiO.sub.2 and CaO is greater than or equal to 97.8 wt %; and the other components, when present, comprise no more than 0.80 wt % Al.sub.2O.sub.3; and wherein the amount of MgO and other components are configured to inhibit the formation of surface crystallite grains upon heat treatment at 1100° C. for 24 hours, wherein said surface crystallite grains comprise an average crystallite size in a range of from 0.0 to 0.90 μm.
DIFFERENTIAL NEEDLING OF A CARBON FIBER PREFORM
A carbon-carbon composite preform including a plurality of layers including carbon fibers or carbon-precursor fibers, the layers include a first exterior layer defining a first major surface, a second exterior layer defining a second major surface, and at least one interior layer disposed between the first exterior layer and the second exterior layer, the at least one interior layer having a peripheral region that forms a portion of an outer surface of the preform. The preform includes needled fibers, where at least some needled fibers extend through two or more layers. The preform has an exterior region and a core region, where the exterior region includes at least the peripheral region of at least one interior layer. The needled fibers define a first needled fiber number density (NFND) in the exterior region and a second greater NFND in at least a portion of the core region.
System and method for transport of fibers to/from a circular needle-punching loom
A circular needle loom comprises a bed plate for receiving a transport layer. Engagement members may be disposed proximate to the bed plate, such that the engagement members interface with a positional structure of the transport layer that is used to position and rotate the transport layer around the bed plate. The engagement members may be configured to rotate the transport layer around the bed plate until a predetermined number of fibers and/or layers are deposited on the transport layer and/or bed plate in order to create a needled preform.

Mounting mat for exhaust gas treatment device
A mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device includes a wet laid sheet of polycrystalline inorganic fibers that have been physically entangled while the wet laid sheet is still in a wet condition. The exhaust gas treatment device includes a housing, a fragile catalyst support structure resiliently mounted within the housing, and the mounting mat disposed in a gap between the housing and the fragile structure. Additionally disclosed are methods of making a mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device and for making an exhaust gas treatment device incorporating the mounting mat.
Fabric having tobacco entangled with structural fibers
A smokeless tobacco product includes smokeless tobacco and structural fibers. The structural fibers forming a network in which the smokeless tobacco is entangled. The structural fibers have a composition different from the smokeless tobacco. The tobacco-entangled fabric can have an overall oven volatiles content of at least 10 weight percent. In some embodiments, the structural fibers form a nonwoven network. In some embodiments, fibrous structures of the smokeless tobacco are entangled with the structural fibers.

Microfibrous product and the use thereof for the preparation of covers and cases
The invention refers to a process for the preparation of a microfibrous non-woven fabric based on polyester or polyamide microfibers immersed in a polyurethane matrix, and having a thickness equal to or less than 0.65 mm, a flat or slightly mottled appearance and a nap length of less than 350 μm. The non-woven fabric is used for the preparation of coverings for consumer goods, particularly for the preparation of covers and cases for electronic products.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FORMING A FIBROUS PREFORM
Systems and methods for forming a fibrous preform are disclosed. The method may comprise providing a plurality of needles comprising a barbed needle and a barbless needle and penetrating the fibrous preform with the plurality of needles.
