First and second drums are mounted inside the first and second tubs, and first and second drive units drive rotations of the first and second drums around first and second rotational shafts, respectively. The second washing unit is arranged above the first washing unit and has a smaller laundry treating capacity than the first washing unit. The first rotational shaft is not parallel to the second rotational shaft. A first recess projects downward from a rear lower surface of the second tub and is configured to heat wash water in the second tub. A metal plate member is provided on an outside lower surface of the second tub, and partially extends to the rear of the second tub to expose a bottom surface of the first recess.

A washing machine includes a washing-basket assembly including a rotatable shaft configured to be rotatably supported. A gear assembly is configured to engage with the rotatable shaft. A foot-peddle assembly is coupled to the gear assembly. This is done in such a way that the foot-peddle assembly, in use, urges a rotatable reciprocating movement of the gear assembly, the rotatable shaft and the washing-basket assembly.

A wall-mounted washing machine includes a rear panel mounted on a porous wall having a plurality of cavities, a tub connected to the rear panel and configured to store washing water, a drum rotatably installed in the tub and configured to wash washing objects, and a fastener unit having one end portion fixed to a fastening hole extending through the cavities of the porous wall and the other end portion configured to extend through the rear panel to fix the rear panel. A first thread is formed in one end portion of the fastener unit. A second thread having a smaller pitch than the first thread is formed in the other end portion of the fastener unit.

A wall-mounted drum type washing machine includes a rear panel mounted on a wall surface; a tub containing washing water, supported by the rear panel; a front panel on the tub; a cover unit covering the front panel; and a detachable detergent box inserted through the cover unit and into the front panel.

A laundry treating appliance for treating fabric according to a cycle of operation includes a cabinet defining an interior, a wash tub within the interior and having a peripheral wall with an upper portion and a bottom end closed by a base; a wash basket located within the wash tub for movement relative thereto and defining a laundry treating chamber; and a drive motor located within the cabinet for rotating or oscillating the wash basket. Prior to installation of the wash tub in the cabinet, the wash tub is oversized relative to the interior. After installation of the wash tub in the cabinet, the upper portion of the wash tub forms a press fit with the cabinet such that the upper portion of the wash tub exerts a force on the cabinet.

A laundry appliance for treating a load of laundry according to a cycle of operation comprises a cabinet and a tub assembly housed within the cabinet and comprising a front tub section, a rear tub section and at least one middle tub section provided between the front and rear tub sections.
