Rotatable-drum laundry drier and method of controlling a rotatable-drum laundry drier to dry delicate laundry

A laundry dryer (1) has a laundry drum (3) which is designed to rotate about an longitudinal axis (6). An air recirculating conduit (10) is connected to the laundry drum (3). A heater device (10) is located along air recirculating conduit (10) to heat the airflow. A rotatable fan (11) is located along air recirculating conduit (10) to produce an airflow flowing through drum (3). The fan (11) is designed to be rotated in a main and secondary direction of rotation for providing different air flow rates. An electric motor (14) is mechanically connected with the fan (11) and the drum (3) for rotating the fan (11) and drum (3), simultaneously. The home laundry dryer (1) further has electric control means (18) configured to control the electric motor (14) so as to cause: the drum (3) to rotate at a first rotational speed (v1) in a forward direction of rotation, thereby resulting in the fan (11) being rotated in the main direction of rotation for providing a first air flow rate; or the drum (3) to rotate at a second rotational speed (v2) greater than said first rotational speed (v1) in a reverse direction of rotation, thereby resulting in the fan (11) being rotated in the secondary direction of rotation for providing a second air flow rate lower than the first air flow rate.

Rotatable-drum laundry drier and method of controlling a rotatable-drum laundry drier to dry delicate laundry

A method of controlling a rotatable-drum laundry drier to dry delicate laundry in a drum of the rotatable-drum laundry drier. The method includes the steps of feeding drying air into the drum; rotating the drum at a variable rotation speed about an axis of rotation; rotating the drum at a first rotation speed higher than, or equal to a rotation speed, at which centrifugal acceleration of the inner surface of the drum equals gravitational acceleration; making interruptions in rotation of the drum at the first rotation speed; and performing, at each interruption, one or more rotation cycles at a second rotation speed, so that, at each cycle, at least part of the laundry slides/tumbles slowly inside the drum while remaining in contact with the inner surface of the drum and/or another part of the laundry contacting the drum.

A method is provided for operating a clothes drying appliance, wherein a moisture content of clothes is determined by measuring a current running through the clothes and wherein the determining takes into account a salt content of the moisture. The clothes drying appliance is adapted to perform the method.

Tumble dryer

A tumble dryer (100) is provided having: a laundry drum (102) rotatably supported in a casing (110) and suitable to receive laundry to be dried. A lint filter assembly (1) can be housed in a housing (105) provided in the casing (110) so that, when the lint filter assembly (1) is placed in the housing (105), it intercepts a flow of air exiting the laundry drum (102). A humidity sensor system retrieves information about the actual humidity of the laundry in the drum (102) and has at least a pair of electrodes (20) positioned such that the laundry in the drum (102) can come into contact with the electrodes (20). A control unit (150) controls the operations of the tumble dryer; and an electric circuit (21, 22, 23) transmits a signal obtained from the electrodes (20) to the control unit (150). The electric circuit (21, 22, 23) has at least one electrical connector (22, 23) arranged in such a way to electrically connect the electrodes (20) to the control unit (150) when the filter assembly (1) is correctly positioned in the housing (105) and not to connect the electrodes (20) to the control unit (150) when the filter assembly (1) is not positioned or not correctly positioned in the housing (105).
