Flame resistant finished fabrics exhibiting water repellency and methods for making the same
Fabrics that are exhibit water repellency, abrasion resistance, and optionally flame resistance are described herein. The fabrics include a plurality of fibers (such as flame resistant fibers) and a finish that imparts water repellency and abrasion resistance to the fibers. The fabrics are free or substantially free from alkylfluoropolymers. Also described herein are garments including the fabrics.

Rigid ballistic composites having large denier per filament yarns
A rigid ballistic-resistant composite includes large denier per filament (dpf) yarns. The yarns are held in place by a resin to form a rigid composite panel with improved ballistic performance. The large dpf yarns may be selected from aromatic heterocyclic co-polyamide fibers, polyester-polyarylate fibers, high modulus polypropylene (HMPP) fibers, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers, poly(p-phenylene-2,6-benzobisoxazole) (PBO) fibers, poly-diimidazo pyridinylene (dihydroxy) phenylene (PIPD) fibers, carbon fibers, and polyolefin fibers.

Antimicrobial Coatings
Aqueous formulations containing antimicrobial materials dispersed in solutions or emulsions, methods of their preparation, application of such compositions to surfaces, and their resulting coatings. Coating of hydrophobic surfaces with aqueous solutions or suspensions containing antimicrobial materials are disclosed. Several applications of the antimicrobial coatings are described including the coating of solid and porous substrates such as fabrics which may be used for gowns, masks, and other personal protection equipment.
ELASTIC FIBER AND FIBER STRUCTURE COMPRISING THE SAME
An elastic fiber of the present invention having an elastic fiber treatment agent attached to the fiber surface, comprises: a hydrocarbon resin (A) having a structure in which a polymer including a structural unit whose monomer is at least one selected from aromatic olefins and aliphatic diolefins as the main structural unit is partially or fully hydrogenated; and a hydrocarbon oil (B). In this way, an elastic fiber and a fiber structure comprising the same are provided that are suitable for obtaining an elastic sheet that has excellent elastic fiber unraveling properties and adhesiveness to hot melt adhesives, and that exhibits good adhesiveness even when processed at a high draft, and for obtaining a sanitary product that is soft to the touch.

WATER-REPELLENT STRUCTURE, MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND WATER-REPELLENT COATING AGENT EMPLOYED IN SAME
A water-repellent structure includes: a base material; and a water-repellent layer located on a surface of the base material. The water-repellent layer contains water-repellent particles and filler particles having an average particle size that is 20 times or more as large as an average particle size of the water-repellent particles.
Treatment agent for elastic fiber
Provided is an elastic fiber treatment agent, containing; a hydrocarbon resin (A); and a hydrocarbon oil (B). The hydrocarbon resin (A) contains a polymer having a structural unit, as a main structural unit, derived from at least one monomer selected from aromatic olefin and aliphatic diolefin, the polymer being partially hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated. It is preferred that the hydrocarbon resin (A) contains a polymer having a structural unit derived from aromatic olefin as a monomer, the polymer being partially hydrogenated or fully hydrogenated, and the aromatic olefin is at least one selected from indene and methylstyrene. Thus, the elastic fiber treatment agent of the present invention imparts excellent unraveling properties to elastic fibers and has excellent adhesiveness to hot melt adhesives, enables the production of stretchable sheets exhibiting good adhesiveness even when processed at a high draft ratio, and is suitable for obtaining soft feel sanitary products.
