Described herein are compositions comprising a vinyl acrylic copolymer derived in the presence of maltodextrin. In some examples, the compositions comprise a copolymer derived from: vinyl acetate; an acrylate monomer having a Tg of 30 C. or less; a carboxylic acid, a carboxylic acid anhydride, or a combination thereof; and an organosilane; in the presence of maltodextrin. The copolymer can be provided as an aqueous dispersion. In some examples, the aqueous dispersion can have an overall solids content of from 40% to 75%. Also disclosed herein are carpet tiles having a surface coated with the adhesive formulations disclosed herein. In some examples, the carpet tile with the adhesive formulation applied thereto can pass the British spill test. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the compositions disclosed herein.

The colloidal latex coating has an exposed surface. The machine further includes an applicator configured to wett an exposed surface of the colloidal latex coating with an anti-blistering agent. The machine further includes a heater configured to heat the underside to cure the colloidal latex coating into a solid latex coating.

A method of manufacturing a tufted surface covering includes incorporating tuft fiber into a backing to form the tufted surface covering, wherein the tufted surface covering includes an underside and a pile surface; coating the underside with a colloidal latex coating, wherein the colloidal latex coating has an exposed surface; wetting the exposed surface with an anti-blistering agent; and heating at least the underside to cure the colloidal latex coating into a solid latex coating.

Aqueous polymer dispersion composition and method of adhering textile materials

The invention comprises a method. The method comprises applying a composition to a tufted primary backing material, wherein the primary backing material has a first primary surface and a second primary surface, wherein tufts extend outwardly from the first primary surface and loop backs are formed on the second primary surface, and wherein the composition is applied to the loop backs and second primary surface of the tufted primary backing material. The composition comprises an aqueous polymer dispersion of colloidal thermosetting polymer particles or colloidal thermoplastic polymer particles and second thermoplastic polymer particles dispersed in the water, wherein the second thermoplastic polymer particles have an average particle size of approximately 200 micron to approximately 1,000 microns. The method further comprises heating the tufted primary backing material and aqueous polymer dispersion to remove water therefrom. A novel adhesive composition is also disclosed.

A carpet for a sound reduction material is disclosed including: a non-permeable primary coating layer formed of polyethylene (PE) resin, being in contact with a lower surface of a fabric layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 300 g/m.sup.2; a permeable felt layer in contact with a lower surface of the primary coating layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 500 g/m.sup.2; and a non-permeable secondary coating layer formed of polyethylene (PE) resin or ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), being in contact with a lower surface of the felt layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 1,000 g/m.sup.2. The carpet for a sound reduction material may thus have improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance, reduced total weight and improved stiffness.

A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile having stitches and a reinforcement layer of fibers and adhesive providing dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. The fibers and adhesive are mixed and then moved by an applicator towards the stitches. A slip path is formed to improve the movement of the fibers and adhesive. A releasable adhesive or gecko-like cover system is provided which also provides additional strength and stability and a releasable attachment of the universal floor covering to a supporting surface.

The invention comprises a method. The method comprises applying to a primary backing and loop backs of a tufted synthetic turf a plurality of solid polymer particles having a particle size less than or equal to 1,000 microns such that a layer of solid polymer particles is formed across the width and length of the primary backing, wherein the polymer particles are applied to the primary backing at a rate of approximately 5 to approximately 18 ounces of polymer per square yard and wherein the solid polymer particles are thermoplastic polymer particles or a mixture of thermoplastic polymer particles and thermosetting polymer particles. The method also comprises heating the polymer particles on the primary backing and loop backs to a temperature at or above the melting temperature of the polymer particles and allowing the heated polymer particles to cool below their melting temperature wherein the tufted synthetic turf has bundle lock of at least 6.8 pounds and the tufted synthetic turf has a water permeability of at least 10 inches of water per hour.
