Floor covering with universal backing and methods of making and recycling
A dimensionally stable universal floor covering includes a tufted textile substrate and a reinforcement layer to provide dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. Vacuum, mixing, and injection of compressed air assists in preparing an adhesive and fiber composition to be in the preferred condition and position before the application of pressure to form the reinforcement layer. The universal floor covering is selectively cut and transported in a roll for installation, and it can be conveniently recycled if necessary.
METHOD OF APPLYING AND USING VISCOUS LIQUID RUBBER COMPOSITION
Viscous liquid rubber compositions are applied to articles by brushing, rolling, pouring, or dipping to repair leaks or to modify the appearance and/or physical properties of the article, such as water-permeability, thermal insulation, shock resistance, vibration resistance, electrical insulation, and the like.
Floor covering with universal backing and methods of making and recycling
A dimensionally stable floor covering, comprising a tufted textile substrate and a reinforcement layer wherein vacuum is used to move adhesive into stitch portions of the yarns and into the back side of the primary backing substrate to provide increased dimensional stability for the entire floor covering. Mixing of reinforcement fibers and adhesive takes place before in situ filtration of the adhesive and fibers. Further, compressed air is injected into the adhesive/fiber composition to provide spaces between the fibers before application of pressure to the composition. The vacuum, mixing, and injection of compressed air assist in preparing the adhesive and fiber composition to be in the preferred condition and position before the application of pressure to the composition.
CARPET COATINGS, CARPETS WITH IMPROVED WET DELAMINATION STRENGTH AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
A precoat composition, a carpet composition comprising the inventive precoat composition layer and methods of making same are disclosed. The inventive precoat composition comprises a thermoplastic dispersion and a filler. The carpet composition comprising the inventive precoat layer exhibits exceptional wet delamination strength.
Mat for a hybrid turf
A mat for a hybrid sport or decorative turf, having a form of a woven fabric, with a single-sided cover pile made of olefin synthetic yarns such as polyethylene and/or polypropylene and/or polyester, according to a W or 5/12W or 7/16W weave structure, comprising pile burls interlaced with weft, wherein the ends of the burls form synthetic grass blades. The mat has from 5000 to 20000 pile burls per m.sup.2, a warp density from 54 to 72 ends/10 cm, a weft density from 30 to 80 ends/10 cm and a pile height from 20 to 140 mm, wherein each pile burl (3) is interlaced at least two times over three weft fibers (5), and wherein the total surface mass of the mat is from 753 to 2105 g/m.sup.2.
Flame retardant carpet products with coating and/or adhesive layers formed from vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer dispersions
Disclosed are carpet products comprising at least one flexible substrate and at least one coating and/or adhesive layer associated with the at least one flexible substrate. The coating and/or adhesive layer is formed from an aqueous composition comprising: A) an emulsifier-stabilized vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) emulsion copolymer dispersion and B) at least one particulate filler material selected from particulate inorganic compounds and particulate plastic material. The vinyl acetate/ethylene copolymer in the copolymer dispersion has a selected ethylene content or glass transition temperature. It is also preferably substantially free of cross-linkable co-monomer moieties which generate formaldehyde upon curing and preferably has a particle size, d.sub.w, ranging from about 50 to about 500 nm. The carpet product is substantially free of polyvinyl chloride and bitumen and exhibits a Class B1 flame-retardancy in accordance with DIN 4102-14, corresponding to a critical heat flux of about 4.5 kW/m.sup.2.
CARPET COATING COMPOSITIONS
An aqueous carpet coating composition comprises: (A) at least one particulate filler material; and (B) a stabilized copolymer dispersion comprising: (a) a copolymer formed by emulsion polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising a vinyl ester of an alkanoic acid having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and 1 to 25 pphm of ethylene, wherein the copolymer comprises particles having a weight average particle size, d.sub.w, of at least 200 nm as determined by Beckman Coulter LS 13320; (b) water; and (c) a stabilizing system comprising (i) 1 to 4 pphm of an emulsifier component consisting of at least one non-ionic surfactant and (ii) 0.5 to 4 pphm of at least one first polyvinyl alcohol component having a degree of hydrolysis greater than 92 mol %.
ARTIFICIAL TURF PRODUCTION USING A NUCLEATING AGENT
A method of manufacturing artificial turf includes the steps of: creating a polymer mixture including at least one polymer and a nucleating agent for crystallizing the at least one polymer, extruding the polymer mixture into a monofilament; quenching the monofilament; reheating the monofilament; stretching the reheated monofilament to form the monofilament into an artificial turf fiber, wherein during the stretching the nucleating agent boosts the creation of crystalline portions of the polymer within the monofilament; incorporating the artificial turf fiber into an artificial turf backing, thereby mechanically fixing the monofilaments of the arranged artificial turf fibers in the artificial turf backing.
