The secondary backing material has an attached portion and a first exposable portion, with the attached portion adhered to the first portion of the primary backing component by contact with the adhesive layer. The second portion of the primary backing component is unattached to the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material, and the first exposable portion defines a portion of the first end edge of the floor covering. The second portion of the primary backing component is selectively moveable relative to the first portion to a position in which at least a portion of the second portion of the primary backing component does not overlie the first exposable portion of the secondary backing material.

The invention pertains to a method for manufacturing a textile product comprising providing a first sheet having a front surface and a back surface, covering the back surface of the sheet with a porous layer having a porosity of 50% to 99%, the layer comprising a thermoplastic material, forming a pile on the front surface of first sheet by stitching one or more yarns through the first sheet, the one or more yarns having a free end that forms the said pile and a locked end that extends into the porous layer, thereby forming an intermediate product, processing the intermediate product by feeding this product along a body having a heated surface, the porous layer being pressed against the said heated surface, to melt at least a fraction of the thermoplastic material, cooling the molten fraction of the thermoplastic, thereby connecting the locked end of the one or more yarns to the first sheet, and optionally connecting a second sheet to the processed intermediate product, using an adhesive applied between the processed surface of the intermediate product and the second sheet. The invention also pertains to a primary backing for use in this method and to a method for manufacturing this primary backing.

The present invention pertains to a method to manufacture a textile product comprising a first sheet having a width and a length, and polymer yarns fastened to this sheet to form a pile thereon, the method comprising providing the sheet, stitching the polymer yarns through the sheet to form the pile on a first surface of the sheet and loops of the yarns at a second surface of the sheet, transporting the sheet in a direction parallel to its length along a heating element, the heating element being directed to the second surface of the sheet, heating the second surface with the heating element to at least partly melt the loops of the yarns to fasten the yarns to the sheet, wherein the method comprises transporting the sheet in contact with the heating element, wherein the heating element is a stationary rigid plate-like element having a width corresponding to the width of the sheet, and a length that extends parallel to the length of the sheet, the plate being curved in its length direction, wherein the outer circumference of the plate is contacted with the sheet. The invention also pertains to a method to use a textile product obtained with the new method and a device for applying the said method.

The artificial turf comprises a base layer, a buffer layer positioned under the base layer and formed of single-fiber nonwoven fabrics, a pile unit penetrating the base layer and the buffer layer to be turfed, wherein the one end of the pile unit is projected to the upper direction of the base layer and the other end of the pile unit is positioned undersurface of the buffer layer, and a backing layer in contact with the undersurface of the buffer layer and the other end of the pile unit and formed of long-fiber non-woven fabrics. In this case, at least a portion of the buffer layer penetrates the base layer and is positioned on upper surface of the base layer to form pores.

A low-weight carpet tile and process for making the same, wherein the carpet tile comprises a facecloth having a plurality of face yarns tufted through a primary backing, an extruded polymer secondary backing layer, and a reinforcing scrim layer partially embedded within the extruded polymer secondary backing layer. The top surface and bottom surface of the carpet tile are defined by the facecloth and the reinforcing scrim layer, respectively. A polymer-based resin is extruded onto the facecloth to form an at least substantially uniform secondary backing layer, and the reinforcing scrim layer is laid onto the extruded polymer secondary backing layer while the extruded polymer secondary backing layer remains above a softening temperature for the resin. The entire multi-layer web is then passed through a nip to embed the reinforcing scrim layer into the extruded polymer secondary layer, and the entire web is chilled.
