20200149193 · 2020-05-14 ·

The present invention relates to a fabric, such as a backing suitable for tufted carpets or artificial turf, comprising slit films, tapes or monofilaments, said slit film, tape or monofilament comprising at least 70% by weight of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition based on the total weight of the slit film, tape or monofilament. The metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition comprised in the slit film, tape or monofilament is a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition comprises: a) at least 45% by weight based on the total weight of the metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A, wherein said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A has a density of at most 0.918 g/cm.sup.3, and a melt index MI2 of at most 4.0 g/10 min; and b) at least 25% by weight based on the total weight of the metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene composition of a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene B, wherein said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene B has a density which is higher than the density of said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A; and a melt index MI2 which is higher than the melt index MI2 said metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene A.

The invention further relates to processes for manufacturing said fabric, such as processes for manufacturing a backing suitable for artificial turf, processes for manufacturing the slit film, tape or monofilament and to articles, e.g. a (woven) fabric, comprising said slit film, tape or monofilament obtained by said processes.

SCRIM-REINFORCED CUSHION MAT FOR CARPET TILES

A carpet tile includes a textile top member and a cushion mat that is coupled with the textile top member via a thermoplastic material. The textile top member includes carpet yarns and a backing that is coupled with the carpet yarns so that the backing structurally supports the carpet yarns. The cushion mat includes a polymeric material component having polymer fibers that are randomly oriented and entangled together and a scrim reinforcement that is disposed within the polymeric material component. The scrim reinforcement reinforces and stabilizes the polymeric material component and is entirely covered and concealed by the intermeshed polymer fibers.

CARPET FOR SOUND REDUCTION MATERIAL
20200130553 · 2020-04-30 ·

A carpet for a sound reduction material is disclosed including: a non-permeable primary coating layer formed of polyethylene (PE) resin, being in contact with a lower surface of a fabric layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 300 g/m.sup.2; a permeable felt layer in contact with a lower surface of the primary coating layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 500 g/m.sup.2; and a non-permeable secondary coating layer formed of polyethylene (PE) resin or ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), being in contact with a lower surface of the felt layer and having a basis weight of 200 to 1,000 g/m.sup.2. The carpet for a sound reduction material may thus have improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance, reduced total weight and improved stiffness.

Floor carpet for vehicles and method for producing same

The vehicle floor carpet of the present invention includes a skin layer, a thermoplastic resin layer, and a base layer in this order, the thermoplastic resin layer has a plurality of open hole parts penetrating through the thermoplastic resin layer in the thickness direction, and the open hole parts are arranged on recesses in a surface of the skin layer or recesses in a surface of the base layer at the side of the thermoplastic resin layer.

FLOORCOVERINGS STABILIZED WITH WARPS OF FILAMENTS OR YARNS

One or more parallel arrays or warps of stabilizing filaments or yarns are introduced into the back of a floorcovering without losing the planar uniformity of the warp, with some of the filaments or yarns optionally reoriented during or after the application to secure multi-directional planar stabilization. Variations include cutting into staple as the warp is introduced, embossing the deposited staple with reorienting patterns, and combining rectilinear and planarly-undulating continuous-filament arrays overlapping to provide multi-directional planar stabilization.

Polyurethane Roller Coating Process for Carpet Backing

A method for preparing carpet by using polyurethane to anneal secondary backing to a greige, comprising fibers attached to a primary backing using a roller application system. The greige is conditioned prior to coating and the polyurethane coated greige is contacted with the secondary backing and the laminate is tensioned and supported to maintain the laminate structure substantially through the polyurethane curing process.

FLOORCOVERINGS STABILIZED WITH PRESSED-IN FIBROUS LAYERS

Reinforcing fibers insensitive to thermal and hydroscopic expansion or contraction are inserted into the backside of a textile fabric using embossing with a fine and deep pattern of projections or cupped needles and held in place with adhesive. The process allows the stabilization of layers having a high sensitivity to variations in temperature or humidity in constructions when the stabilizing fibers cannot be included in the original fabric-forming process, as in the case of a tufted fabric using fiberglass fibers for stabilization.

BINDER-CONSOLIDATED TEXTILE FABRICS AND METHODS OF THEIR MANUFACTURE AND USE
20200017732 · 2020-01-16 ·

Textile fabrics consolidated with a binder that is made from a binder system are described. The binder system may include:

a) 30% or less by dry weight of at least one polymer based on polyvinyl alcohol;

b) 70% or more by dry weight of at least one starch, wherein the at least one starch comprises 50% by weight or more of one or more natural starches based on the total weight of the at least one starch;

c) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one crosslinker;

d) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one filler; and

e) 0 to 10% by dry weight of at least one additive,

wherein a sum of components a) through e) is 100% by dry weight of the binder system. Method of making the textile fabrics consolidated with binders made from the binder systems are also described.
