COMPOSITE FABRIC COMPRISING A BACTERIAL BIOPOLYMER LAYER
Provided is a composite fabric having a base fabric and at least one bacterial biopolymer layer. The base fabric is a woven fabric, and includes warp yarns and weft yarns. At least a first plurality of warp yarns and a first plurality of weft yarns form a base layer of the base fabric. A second plurality of warp yarns and/or a second plurality of weft yarns forms an additional layer of loop portions on at least one of the sides of the base fabric. The bacterial biopolymer layer is provided at least on part of the additional layer. Further provided is a process for the production of the composite fabric and a clothing article formed of the composite fabric.
EPOXY RESIN IMBIBED POLYMER PARTICLES
The present invention relates to an aqueous polymer dispersion composition comprising a stable aqueous dispersion of single-phase thermoplastic polymer particles imbibed with a thermosettable compound having at least two oxirane groups. The thermoplastic polymer particles have a sufficient concentration of anti-agglomerating functional groups to stabilize the latex against agglomeration, and the thermoplastic polymer particles being a copolymerization product of a monomer mixture comprising, based on the total dry weight of the monomer mixture (a) 35 wt. % to 71 wt. % of ethyl acrylate, (b) 30 wt. % to 60 wt. % of methyl methacrylate, and (c) 5 wt. % to 10 wt. % methylol acrylamide.
FLOUROCARBON FREE AND BIOBASED OIL AND WATER BARRIER MATERIALS
An aqueous polyelectrolyte (PEC) composition for application to a fibre based material for use in obtaining a barrier coating resistant to oil and water, comprises from 0.1 to 20% (w/w) of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and from 0.1 to 20% of cationic starch (CS), providing PECs with a charge ratio of 1; from 1 to 20% (w/w) of a plasticizer; and from 1 to 15% (w/w) of a pH adjusting agent selected from an acid, a buffering system and a base.
BIOTEXTILE AND PLANT-BASED FEEDSTOCK MATERIAL COMPRISING A PARTIALLY OR FULLY BIODEGRADABLE COMPOSITE, AND METHODS OF MAKING THE COMPOSITE
A biotextile for a plant-based leather product comprises a partially or fully biodegradable composite including: a polymer matrix comprising a bio-based polymer, and a cellulosic material dispersed in the polymer matrix. At least one property of the composite is sufficient to meet an industrial standard for leather or vinyl. A method of making the composite may include heating and mixing a formulation comprising bio-based polymer, a plasticizer, and a cellulosic material to form a molten mixture, extruding the molten mixture to form an extruded body having a predetermined shape, and cooling the extruded body to form a composite having the predetermined shape, which may be a sheet, rod, pellet, or granule. The composite includes a polymer matrix comprising the bio-based polymer with the cellulosic material dispersed therein. A plant-based feedstock material comprising the composite may be used as a raw material for injection molding or 3D printing.
