LUBRICANT PODS
20230285284 · 2023-09-14 ·

A lubricant container configured to facilitate the delivery of lubricant steadily, over time, within a target cavity such as a vagina or anus is described. The container is composed of a soluble membrane or substrate configured to dissolve at or above body temperature. Subdivisions within the container, preferably established via dividers, are configured to contain differing types of lubricant which are to be released in differing stages after a certain amount of time has elapsed. Differing portions of the container, as well as the dividers, are preferably composed of substrate having differing densities and/or thicknesses to facilitate the time-delay function of the apparatus.

Today's suppositories are typically packaged individually for digital administration into the anal canal of a patient. A suppository applicator described herein, which works with individually packaged suppositories, can alternatively be shipped in a prepackaged operational arrangement with a suppository to enable the patient to administer the suppository through use of the applicator in a single operation after opening a hygienic wrapper containing the applicator-suppository combination. A method for manufacturing a suppository includes manufacturing the suppository in the presence of and in contact with an element configured to be used to insert the suppository into a body cavity. The method may include using the element to define a shape of the suppository during the manufacturing. The resulting applicator-suppository combination is more hygienic and easier to handle than the separate applicator and suppository and provides more efficiency from time of opening the packaging to time of commencing administration of the suppository

Medical devices and implements with liquid-impregnated surfaces

Described herein are medical devices and medical implements with high lubricity to flesh (or biological fluid) and/or inhibited nucleation on its surface. The device has a surface comprising an impregnating liquid and a plurality of micro-scale and/or nano-scale solid features spaced sufficiently close to stably contain the impregnating liquid therebetween. The impregnating liquid fills spaces between said solid features, the surface stably contains the impregnating liquid between the solid features, and the impregnating liquid is substantially held in place between the plurality of solid features regardless of orientation of the surface.
