HIGHLY COMPRESSIBLE OPEN REINFORCING CORD
A cord (50) comprises a single layer (52) made up of N helically wound metal filamentary elements (54) having an outer diameter D, the metal filamentary elements (54) defining an internal enclosure (58) of the cord of diameter Dv. Each metal filamentary element (54) has a diameter Df and a helix radius of curvature Rf. With this cord (50), D, Dv, Df and Rf being expressed in millimeters: 0.10≤Jr≤0.25, 9≤Rf/Df≤30, and 1.60≤Dv/Df≤3.20, where Jr=N/(π*(D−Df))×(Dh×Sin(π/N)−(Df/Cos(αx π/180))) and α is the helix angle, expressed in degrees, of each metal filamentary element (54).
METHOD FOR SEPARATION AND REASSEMBLY
The method makes it possible to manufacture an assembly (A) comprising a layer (C) of metal filamentary elements (14) wound in a helix. The method comprises a step (100) of supplying a temporary assembly (22) comprising a layer (13) of M′>1 metal filamentary elements (14) and a temporary centre (16), and a step (110) of separating the temporary assembly (22) between a first split assembly (25), a second split assembly (27) and the temporary centre (16). The method comprises a step (140) of reassembling the first split assembly (25) with the second split assembly (27) so as to form the layer (C) of the assembly (A).
Steel cord for elastomer reinforcement
A steel cord for the reinforcement of elastomer products such as elevator belts, conveyor belts, synchronous or timing belts or hoses or tyres is presented. The steel cord comprises strands and monofilaments made of steel filaments. The strands themselves are also made of steel filaments twisted together. The strands form the outer layer of the steel cord. The monofilaments are twisted into the cord with the same lay length and direction as the strands and are positioned in the valleys between the strands on the radial outer side of the steel cord. The steel cord has the advantage that it has a better fill factor and a rounder aspect. Furthermore the monofilaments may act as an early wear indicator of the elastomer product.
ROPE FOR AIRBORNE WIND POWER GENERATION SYSTEMS
The invention relates to a rope having a length LR of at least 100 m, the rope comprising synthetic filaments with a filament tenacity of at least 1.0 N/tex, characterized in that a weight fraction χ of the total weight of synthetic filaments present in the load bearing core have a length LF of 0.01 m to 0.7*L.sub.R, wherein said weight fraction is at least 50 wt %. The invention further relates to an airborne wind power generation system comprising the rope as well as the use of the rope in an airborne wind power generation system wherein the length of the rope oscillates between a maximum length L.sub.max and a minimum length L.sub.min, wherein L.sub.max is at most 10,000 m and L.sub.min is at least 100 m and wherein the ratio of L.sub.max to L.sub.min is between 10 and 1.5.
Straight steel monofilament for a belt ply
A method for manufacturing a straight steel monofilament for the reinforcement of belt ply of a pneumatic tyre, where the arc-height of the straight steel monofilament is less than 30 mm. The steel monofilament is plastically deformed by a twisting along the axis of the steel monofilament on a double-twist apparatus. The plastic twist deformation eliminates the surface stress difference on the steel monofilament and provides a strainght steel monofilament for belt ply reinforcement. This provides a simple solution with existing apparatus to manufacture straight steel monofilament suitable for tire reinforcement with high speed for mass production.
Wire member
A wire member that exhibits an excellent sliding property is provided. A wire member 1 includes: a core member 2 that has an elongated shape; and a surface-disposed member 3 that is spirally disposed on a surface of the core member 2 so as to leave predetermined spaces along a longitudinal direction of the core member 2. In a cross-sectional view taken along the axis of the core member 2, the front end and the rear end of each of projections 3A formed by the surface-disposed member 3 respectively form contact angles 1, 2 each being 5 or greater relative to the surface of the core member 2.
Straightening device for straightening cables
A straightening device for straightening cables includes two rows of rollers, an adjusting device for manually adjusting a distance between the rows of rollers, a measuring device for recording the distance between the rows of rollers, and an indicator device with which deviations of the actual value of the distance between the rows of rollers, determined by the measuring device, from a nominal value is visually indicated. The indicator device has two optical error indicating elements for indicating too high and/or too low an actual value compared with the nominal value of the distance, as well as an optical correct indicating element for indicating that the actual value of the distance corresponds with the nominal value.
BELT COMPRISING STEEL CORDS ADAPTED FOR WEAR DETECTION
A belt containing steel cords, the steel cords containing strands made of steel filaments wherein the largest diameter filaments are at least intermittently positioned at the radially outer side of the steel cord. Such a configuration can be obtained by using steel cord constructions wherein the thickest filaments are positioned outside of the steel cord which is contrary to the current practice. In a further embodiment the largest diameter filaments fill up some or all of the valleys of the strands at their radially outer side. These monofilaments thus have the same lay length and direction as the strands in the steel cord. The advantage of putting the largest filaments at the outside is that they will break first and thus will be readily detectable by electrical, magnetic or visual means. In this way a belt is provided that can be monitored easier and more conveniently than prior art belts.
Pre-stressed concrete structure with galvanized reinforcement
A pre-stressed concrete structure comprises a steel wire or a steel strand. The steel wire or steel strand has been pre-tensioned before curing of the concrete or grout. The steel wire or steel strand is provided with a zinc coating. The zinc coating has a weight ranging between 70 g/m.sup.2 and 950 g/m.sup.2. The steel wire or steel strand has an outer surface that is provided with indentions to provide mechanical anchorage points in the concrete structure. The steel wire or steel strand is further provided with a passivation layer in the form of a metal oxide layer.

A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a tension member extending along a length of the belt, the tension member including a plurality of fibers bonded in a first polymer matrix, the plurality of fibers extending parallel to and discontinuous along a length of the belt and arranged with one or more lengthwise extending gaps between lengthwise adjacent fibers. A jacket substantially retains the tension member. A method of forming a tension member for an elevator system belt includes arranging a plurality of fibers into a fiber bundle. The plurality of fibers extend parallel to a length of the belt and have one or more lengthwise extending gaps between lengthwise extending fibers. The plurality of fibers is bonded to a first polymer matrix.
