Process for spinning multifilament yarn containing n filaments are provided, wherein an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) solution containing UHMWPE polymer and a solvent for the UHMWPE polymer are spun through n spin-holes of a spin plate and drawn before, during or after removal of the solvent to thereby obtain the multifilament yarn containing n filaments, the yarn having a tenacity (Ten) as expressed in cN/dtex of Ten(eN/dtex) = f×n.sup.-.sup.0.05×dpf.sup.-.sup.0.15, wherein Ten is at least 39 cN/dtex, n is at least 25, f is a factor of at least 62.0 and dpf is the dtex per filament.

An illustrative example assembly for making an elevator load bearing member includes a fabric having a plurality of fibers arranged with some of the fibers transverse to others of the fibers. A plurality of cords are configured to support a load associated with an elevator car. The cords are included in the fabric and have respective coatings. The coatings include a first coating material and a second coating material, or include different coating thicknesses such that some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings, or the coatings include the first coating material and the second coating material and some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings.

Embodiments of the disclosed fishing line or net may comprise a degradable polymer having components derived from i) biomass sources, ii) protein, fatty acid or lipid sources, iii) microbial-based monomers and polymers, iv) agro-based monomers and polymers, v) sugar or starch based monomers and polymers, or combinations thereof, as well as fishing lines and nets that further comprise an additive having components derived from i) polyol sources, ii) citrate sources, iii) fatty acid sources, iv) biomass oil sources, or combinations thereof. Some of the embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets may have a suitable fiber core, while other embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets are degradable over a predetermined period of time. The disclosed embodiments are preferred because of the low environmental impact of the disclosed fishing lines or nets.

A wire cable construct including a plurality of strands each made of a plurality of wire filaments, the strands and wire filaments arranged in a 37×7 configuration of 37 strands of 7 wire filaments each, with the strands arranged in four layers including a first, central layer of a single strand, a second layer of six strands, a third layer of twelve strands and a fourth, outermost layer of eighteen strands. The cable may have a small diameter for use in medical device applications, and the strand and wire element configuration allows the cable to carry high axial loads, minimizes bending stress when the cable is routed around a tight turn such as a small pulley, and minimizes torsion in the cable due to axial loading.
