Low slip splice

A rope system (10, 20) comprising a splice structure (12, 22) with an intact portion (23) comprising at least 8 intact strands (32, 34), and a disassembled portion (26) comprising at least 4 loose strands (30), wherein the intact portion (23) is a braid of at least 4 S oriented (32) and at least 4 Z oriented intact strands (34), wherein at least one loose strand (30) of the disassembled portion (26) passes under and over intact strands (32, 34) of the intact portion (23), and at least one loose strand (30) passes under at least one X-tuck (38) of intact strands (32, 34). By this means the splice length can be minimized resp. slippage of the splice at high loads can be avoided.

Hybrid stranded conductor

A hybrid strand includes a core and outer wires arranged around the core, wherein at least a part of the outer wires is compressed, wherein the compressed outer wires include a flattened cross-sectional shape, the outer wires are composed of steel, and the core is a fiber core. A corresponding production method produces such a hybrid strand.

A rubber-reinforcing cord of the present invention is a rubber-reinforcing cord for reinforcing a rubber product. The rubber-reinforcing cord includes at least one strand. The strand includes at least one filament bundle and a coating provided to cover at least a portion of a surface of the filament bundle. The coating includes a rubber component and a crosslinking agent. The crosslinking agent includes two or more isocyanate compounds.

A REINFORCEMENT STRAND FOR REINFORCING A POLYMER ARTICLE

A reinforcement strand (400) comprises a core (403) around which steel filaments (404) are twisted all with the same final lay length and direction. The steel filaments are arranged in an intermediate layer comprising N first steel filaments and an outer layer of 2N steel filaments circumferentially arranged around the intermediate layer. In the intermediate layer filaments will contact one another at a closing lay length that is determined by the number of steel filaments N in the intermediate layer, the diameter of the core and the diameter of the first steel filaments. By choosing the final lay length and direction equal to the between two and six times the closing lay length gaps will form between the intermediate layer filaments. The 2N outer layer filaments are further divided into a group of smaller (408) and a group of larger (406) diameter steel filaments.

A tension element of an elevator system tension member includes a plurality of first polymer fibers of a first material extending along a length of the tension element, and a plurality of second polymer fibers of a second material different from the first material. The plurality of second polymer fibers have a melting point lower than that of the plurality of first polymer fibers. The plurality of second polymer fibers are fused to the plurality of first polymer fibers to serve as a matrix for the plurality of first polymer fibers.

Rubber-reinforcing cord and rubber product using same

A rubber-reinforcing cord of the present invention is a rubber-reinforcing cord for reinforcing a rubber product. The rubber-reinforcing cord includes at least one strand. The strand includes at least one filament bundle and a coating provided to cover at least a portion of a surface of the filament bundle. A steel strand (10) comprises a steel core wire (12). This steel core wire (12) is surrounded by steel layer wires (14) that are twisted around the steel core wire (12). The steel core wire (12) is covered with a thick corrosion resistant core coating (16) provided by strip cladding or by metal extrusion. The steel layer wires (14) are covered with a thin corrosion resistant layer coating (18) provided by a hot dip operation or by an electroplating or chemical plating process. The steel strand (10) is compacted so that said steel layer wires (14) have a non-circular cross-section and that the thick corrosion resistant core coating fills the interstices between the steel core wire (12) and the steel layer wires (14) in order to give the steel strand (10) an improved corrosion resistance and increased lifetime.

Elongate body with Exoskeleton

An elongate body adapted to bend in a single plane, comprises a rope extending within a succession of individual tubular elements closely spaced along the rope. Each element has on two opposite sides of the plane an extended section engaging a recess in its neighbouring element, the profiles of the section and recess allowing relative rotation of adjacent elements in said plane. The tubular elements thus form an exoskeleton around the rope which must be breached before the rope can be cut. The geometry of the tubular elements can be such that notwithstanding gaps, the rope cannot be readily accessed unless the exoskeleton is broken.
